Review from the Spring 2023 Early Education Survey
Review: Our child and we LOVE La Maternelle. The space is great with a dining room, playroom, sleeping room, and full backyard. The program currently goes until age 3 and they are constantly doing art projects, reading stories, singing songs, doing yoga (one of the teachers is a yoga instructor), and have a private dance and music teacher come in weekly. It's french immersion (we don't speak french), and our son speaks and understands english and french as a result. They also provide all snacks/meals which are cooked onsite and shared with the teachers. They send a weekly menu which always looks incredible. Amenities: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing.Daycare scramble
No advice about getting off waitlists but if you’re willing to come down to south slope a little look into La Maternelle. Not sure if they have availability but we sent our daughter there as an infant and the teachers are so kind and loving. It’s a French (mostly) daycare but it doesn’t matter that much. They have outdoor space and homemade food. It’s also right by the train on 10th and 4th Ave, so you could do two stops on the R. Our daughter still loves to go back and visit.Experience at La Maternelle / Bijoux de Miley Daycare
I had my daughter, now 14 months, at La Maternelle last year until we (sadly) moved out of Brooklyn. It was a short but very positive experience. The teachers are really great, caring and attentive. Our daughter was iffy the first week (their transition week, where you spend some time with your kiddo in the classroom, helped) and then became totally comfortable and visibly happy at drop off and pick up. They use an App called HiMama to share daily photos & videos (always fun to see the cute activities the kids are up to - crafts, baby yoga, circle/book time, outdoor time) and info on feeds, naps, supplies needed. They have a quiet and dark nap room with white noise that our daughter seemed to sleep very well in. The big yard and home-made food were big pluses in my eyes, as were the date nights they offer! The community of parents was also very nice. One con: communication around admin/weekly scheduling not always very smooth. But overall very highly recommend!Review from the Spring 2022 Early Childhood Education Survey
Location: 388 Carrol Street Type of facility: Preschool Review: This place is amazing - the teachers are wonderful and the administration is organized, clear, thorough, and loving. They have handled the COVID-19 Pandemic with grace and sensibility, keeping parents updated and aware of developments and policies. The teachers go to extra lengths to ensure that our child is feeling comfortable and confident - when she was getting a new sibling, they could tell our daughter had some big feelings, and worked through them with her by making little personalized books. Generally, they have wonderfully planned themes and lessons, and really do some cool stuff. Not only has our daughter learned to speak French, but she has so much fun at school! I cannot say enough great things! What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options What would you change about the program, if anything? Now that they have added extended hours after school 4- 6PM, I wouldn't change a thing!Feedback on French-speaking daycares in Park Slope...
We have not attended Les Petits Bilingues so cannot comment there, but our daughter has been at La Maternelle from the time she was 8 months old (she's now over 2), and we are very happy there. Our little one is thriving, and loves her teachers and friends.2’s program this fall
Our daughter currently attends a wonderful bilingual daycare (La Maternelle de Park Slope). The owner/director Miley is amazing, along with her entire team, and has a sister preschool with a 2's class called Les Petits Bilingues de New York. Unfortunately the preschool isn't a convention location for us otherwise we would absolutely be sending our daughter there, but highly recommend it for anyone looking for French language in Park Slope (6th Ave & 10th).
