Called ‘The Best Car Service for Kids’ in New York City since 2006, only Kid Car provides fully vetted and trained drivers, age and weight-appropriate, properly installed car seats, a choice of vehicles, and the ability to reserve a vehicle 30 minutes or 30 days in advance for travel in and around New York City.
Parents use Kid Car to bring their newborn home from the hospital, for trips around town, and for airport transfers. Kid CarPool is a shared transportation option with the same driver every day for school and after school activities.

We’ve been using Kid Car for a couple of years now—and they’re great! They’re always early and reliable, available at relatively short notice, and just super helpful with our toddler. We used KidCar and really recommend it, I think even if I had a car seat I'd use it because you have to bring your car seat to the hospital to have it for the ride home, which means your partner has to leave the hospital at some point to get it (we live in Bed Stuy and delivered at NYU Langone so that would have been a real pain regardless) and hospital rooms are small...so I think it's a hassle. The ride share services only have car seats for older kids. KidCar specifically is for coming home from the hospital, they arrived in a big Suburban type vehicle, the driver wore a suit, so it felt like we had a 'driver', and it was spacious and comfortable. It's pricey, but treat yourself! You just had a baby. It was worth it for us to not have to deal with learning a new skill that feels scary with a newborn.Getting baby home from the hospital without a car
There's a service called Kid Car that you may want to consider. They specialize in transporting children. If your friends are willing to spend the money, Kid Car is amazing. They have super professional drivers, the right car seats come perfectly installed. They put your child in the seat and buckle them in. They call and text you when your flight lands and they are minutes away when you leave the terminal. The drivers even unloaded are luggage when we got home. I think they might have even carried it all the way up to out apartment (a fourth floor walk up). But they are easily twice the price of a regular car service. It's totally worth it for piece of mind and convenience with a toddler/preschooler and an infant. For older kids, it's harder to say.
