Need parenting coach/therapist
I highly recommend psychiatrist Dr. Kevin Lam. He has office hours in Brooklyn Heights 1x per week, plus office hours on other days in Manhattan. We were originally referred to him by our Middle School psychologist as well as Dr. Philippa Gordan. On my son's evaluation, it was suggested that we consider a pharmacological aide to help with attention and focus issues. (My son has ADHD--inattentive type and anxiety.) We were pleased with Dr. Lam's process in determining whether medication was needed right now plus our monthly parenting sessions (how to manage school and determine/prioritize supports. We have very focused 30 minute sessions and leave feeling empowered with solutions to issues as they arise. My son is 11, and I understand that 14 is much more challenging! (November 2019)
