Kenzie Davis speech pathology
Kenzie was amazing with our daughter when she was 4-5 years old and dealing with a phonological error (speech articulation issue). Kenzie was attentive, patient, and so communicative with us. What more is she took a genuine interest in our daughter and really made her feel seen and taken care of. I can’t recommend her highly enough!ISO speech therapist
I second Kenzie - she worked with my son years ago and is great.ISO speech pathologist for 4yo
I highly recommend Kenzie Davis (www.kenziedavisspeech.com), she does a great job with younger children and is really effective at virtual learning.Toddler stutter, Speech therapist rec?
We take our 3.5 year old to Kenzie Davis for articulation issues (she was recommended by a friend). She’s conveniently located and our daughter actually loves going. We’ve only been going for a few weeks, but already see an improvement. Feel free to reach out directly if you have more questions.Shout out: Therapist led class for babies 6-12 months
Just wanted to give a shout out to my son's speech therapist (Kenzie Davis) who is starting a class with Rita Sverdlova (OT) aimed at babies (6-12 months) and their caregivers. It is a series of 5 classes that promote physical, sensory and language skills in an age appropriate way (movement, play, singing, etc) - inclusive, all babies welcome! My son's language skills have improved in leaps and bounds with Kenzie so I can wholeheartedly recommend her. I actually wish this kind of class was available when my kids were that age - I could have picked up some real pointers. I think this kind of class (therapist led) is a very welcome addition to the huge amount of music classes available for babies and it's nice to have something in South Slope/Windsor Terrace.Review for Kenzie Davis
I found Kenzie Davis via the PSP site (http://www.parkslopeparents.com/803_Kenzie-Davis.html) and I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of recommendations for Kenzie. In addition to not being able to pronounce 'k' and 'g' sounds, our then-3yo daughter was insecure about speaking to anyone outside our family. Kenzie's warmth and listening skills brought her out of her shell, so that her preschool teachers even remarked on the sudden improvement in her confidence and talkativeness. It took our daughter several months to understand how to produce 'g', but Kenzie was patient and maintained great communication with us and our nanny as we tried to figure out how to trick her into practicing. Once we were able to get her to practice at home daily in addition to weekly sessions with Kenzie, our daughter was talking clearly in one month. The best thing is that, even after "graduating," the habits of listening and practicing which Kenzie teaches allowed our daughter to teach HERSELF how to say the "l" sound! She played games and made up practice sentences just like Kenzie taught her.Recommendation for Kenzie Davis
For a little over a year, starting at age 4, my now 5 year old son worked with Kenzie Davis for speech therapy at Work Space (17th & Prospect Park West). We are so appreciative of the work she did with him. At the time my son started with Kenzie, my husband and I could only understand him about 50% of the time, with others in his life understanding him about 25-30%. He had been seeing another therapist prior to Kenzie, but did not make much progress and was incredibly stubborn about practicing the new articulation techniques taught by the therapist. Kenzie immediately connected with him and was able to build a rapport that worked through his stubbornness. Within the first two months, we heard improvements and he made the connection that he needed to focus on the articulation of words so others could understand him. Kenzie's positive, upbeat and encouraging attitude has helped my son to communicate much better. We frequently have friends and family comment on how well he is doing and that they can understand what he is saying. We could not have been more pleased with the outcome.Recommendation for Kenzie Davis
My 3 ½-year-old son has been seeing Kenzie Davis for speech therapy at Work Space (17th Street and Prospect Park West) for the last 9 months, and she has been absolutely wonderful. She is incredibly warm, gentle, and patient, which is exactly what my very shy, anxious son needs. She has done a great job of assessing his strengths and weaknesses and has tailored her approach to fit his unique needs. Kenzie has excellent clinical judgment and has invested a great deal of time and effort in identifying the underlying source of my son’s difficulties with verbal expression. After coming to the conclusion that he might need additional support to address some of the emotional issues underlying his speech and language issues, Kenzie was instrumental in helping us secure a Special Education Itinerant Teacher to work with my son in his preschool classroom. As anyone who has dealt with the special education system knows, the process can be incredibly daunting and frustrating, and Kenzie was there for us every step of the way. She had nothing personally to gain from helping us do this, but she did it because she clearly cares a great deal about children and knew that my son really needed some extra help. I cannot recommend Kenzie highly enough. She is competent, kind, and a wonderful advocate for the children she works with.recommendation for Kenzie Davis
My son has been working with Kenzie Davis twice a week over the last two years, and in that time, we have found her to be a warm, professional, important addition to our son's life. She has always worked hard to engage him and incorporate his own interests, kept him focused when his attention wandered, and has been firm but kind with him when he has tested boundaries. Recently we have been at a crossroads in terms of his goals, and she has been bringing in techniques from some continuing education she's pursuing in her free time. I love that she is never "rote" in her approach, but always looks for new ways to help my son and push him further. We love Kenzie, and we will miss her next year when my son graduates from CPSE!review
I highly recommend Kenzie Davis. My son has been working with her since he was a barely verbal, highly emotional two-year-old, and the difference she has made in his life is amazing. She patiently worked with him through his tantrums and inability to attend, and within months he was more able to express himself, feeling less frustrated, and throwing fewer tantrums. Now he is four and a half, highly verbal, but now with a whole different set of pragmatic speech needs, and Kenzie has adapted and met him at every new level. She is warm and caring, very knowledgable, and willing to go out of her way in order to be of help. She is empathetic, yet professional, and always maintains an appropriate relationship with my son so that he can develop independence while feeling supported. Kenzie has always brought me into her process, helping me understand her methods and teaching me how to implement activities at home. She has been helpful and involved with first the EI and then the CPSE and turning 5 process, writing thorough reports and submitting them on time so that my son's services can run smoothly. I've found her to be an excellent communicator, available via phone or text or email. But most importantly, she's a great speech therapist who has made a real and lasting difference in my son's (and my) life.Feedback
I would not recommend Kenzie if your child has any special needs outside of the norm. My 5 year old daughter has an unusual situation which I discussed with Kenzie in detail over the phone before booking. Kenzie reacted badly to my daughter, not meeting her eye, cringing and flinching when my girl tried to touch her hair, and pulling her away by the arm when she tried to open a closet door. The worst, though, was that her treatment plan was vague and not at all in keeping with what we'd discussed. Having finally found a great speech therapist, I know creating a viable plan after one session is possible, if not standard.(no subject)
I second the recommendation for Kenzie Davis. She is fantastic and warm. I really feel like she got to know my son and figured out what would work best to motivate him. He has only been going for a brief time and is already having a lot of success. She's been out for a few weeks (back very soon) and he truly misses her and asks frequently when he gets to go again.(no subject)
I can highly recommend Kenzie Davis, she works out of Work Space on Prospect Park West and 17th Street. Her number is: 917 648-5074. My daughter has been seeing her for a year now.(no subject)
Work Space is with Kenzie Davis and Jane Weedon is at Prospect Park West and 17th Street. It certainly does exist, I’m there 4 days a week! It is a lovely space and Kenzie and Jane are both fantastic. My daughter has been seeing Kenzie since December and is making remarkable progress with her speech. I don’t work with Jane but talk with lots of parents who do and see her interact with the children and she has a great rapport and manner with the children.(no subject)
I second the reco for Kenzie Davis. She worked with my child when in preschool and is so fun and well-qualified. My daughter looked so forward to their time together and made great progress.(no subject)
I also highly recommend Kenzie. We've worked with her for over a year. She works with one of my boys but allows the other to participate too. (They're twins.) She also pointed out to us non-speech concerns that ended up with my son receiving OT services, much to his (and our) benefit. I couldn't recommend her more!(no subject)
Recommended! My daughter worked with her from ages 3-5 and loved her, made great progress. (Recommended October, 2010).(no subject)
