Having Dr. Brennan by my side during my first pregnancy was amazing. He's extremely knowledgeable, calming, and also attentive. I had his personal cell number and could text or call at any time - he literally ALWAYS answered the phone. I had a few freakouts during pregnancy and he always had me come in to his office and did a thorough check and reassured me along the way. I also had some complications after birth with high blood pressure and he had me text him every single day for weeks checking in to make sure things went back to normal. I can't stress enough how amazing it was to be in his care - very very highly recommended!Review from the Spring 2023 Birthing Survey
What month and year was your child born? 11/2022 Review: Dr. Brennan and his wide Jais took a very good care of me! They were caring, attentive, sensitive and they answered all my question. They helped me navigate well my high risk considered pregnancy.Review from the Spring 2023 Birthing Survey
What month and year was your child born? February 2023 Review: Dr. Brennan is a wonderful man and a great doctor. We had a challenging pregnancy and labor and he was there for us for both every step of the way. In many moments of pregnancy panic, I was able to call his cell and he was always prompt in his response and checked in during the days following to make sure everything was okay. I'll never forget this. I wish all doctors were like this - they don't make them like Dr. Brennan anymore. He brought our baby girl into this world healthy, and did a very good job with the c section (pain subsided quickly, scar is minor). Would highly recommend if you want someone supportive, dependable, and experienced.Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing Survey
What month and year was your child born? June 2022 Review: Dr. Brennan is awesome- calm, cool and collected. This is my second time delivering with him and the experience was great. He is always available (24/7) to speak with and even see his patients in the office. I recommend him wholeheartedly - especially for older women or those going through high risk pregnancies.John Brennan, MD
I don’t know any doctors nowadays that would give you their mobile number right away, but this is Dr. Brennan. He works with a lovely and small team, which includes his wife, and they make you feel extremely safe during this whole process. He is fact oriented, kind, conscientious, and responsive. And very respected by other health professionals - every time we mentioned his name, people would say “You’re in good hands”, “Oh, your doctor has tons of experience, don’t worry”. He delivers at Lenox Hill, which also gave us a wonderful experience. And everyone there also seems to love to work with him! Don’t think twice, he’s the OBGyn everyone deserves.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Dr Brennan is great, very relaxed and up to date with research. He made all efforts to not do a C-section too, which I appreciated. His wife and nurse Jayce is very full of love and care. It's a bit hard to get ahold of the office to make appointments etc and slow to get test results but we liked the whole experience, a lot!Twin pregnancy OB recommendations?
Dr Brennan on Pacific Street is fantastic. Have seen women carrying multiples in there often and we had an incredibly positive pregnancy and birth experience with his practice. Highly highly recommend.2019 Birth Survey
Dr. Brennan was amazing. This is the second child of mine he's delivered. It is a real rarity to have the same person at all your examination and delivery you; however, that is exactly what you get with Dr. Brennan. He and his wife are with you at every step of the process. I cannot recommend them enough.2018 Birth Survey
Dr. Brennan is incredibly competent and has an excellent bedside manner. He and his wife, who is a nurse, give you lots of individual attention and care. In urgent situations, I was always able to reach him on his cell. The downside is that the wait at the office can be significant, particularly later in the day.Review submitted via the PSP Birth Survey
Dr. Brennan is very caring and attentive and an excellent doctor. He is a solo practitioner, so all of my pre-natal appointments were with him and I knew he was going to deliver my baby. This made wait times somewhat long, since he was often delivering other babies or attending to other patient needs, but I felt like it was very worthwhile. Would very much recommend him. Dr. Brennan and his wife, who works with him, are wonderful and caring people. Dr. Brennan delivered both my children and made both, although very different births, very positive experiences. He cares about what you want (and remembered what I had told him I'd wanted, even though I had forgotten during the birth). The only negative about their office is that there is often a wait because it is not a practice and Dr. Brennan and his wife take their time to answer all your questions and address any concerns. Also, since LICH closed he only delivers at Lennox Hill. On the positive, they are amazingly always available. I had some bleeding whilst on a business trip and Dr. Brennan was willing to see me immediately upon my return to NY (at 11.30pm!) to alleviate my concerns. He is pragmatic, always takes your concerns seriously and his wife always remembers my kids' names (makes me feel she cares about me as a person, not just a patient). We had an excellent prenatal care and childbirth experience with Dr. Brennan and the team (Jais, Dr. Brennan’s wife/nurse, and Anna at the front desk). Could not recommend more highly. Dr. Brennan is a solo practitioner so you get the kind of personal attention that is nearly unheard of these days - in fact I don’t know how they are able to operate in this way. It also means that he will be the one who delivers your baby - when I asked what would happen if he was on vacation, his response was “we don’t go on vacation”. If you have questions or concerns at any point, you always get through to Jais or Dr. Brennan in the office or on his cell phone. They are unfailingly warm, kind and responsive. I never felt rushed no matter how busy the office was. He even circumsized our son a couple of days after he was born (“nice cut” - several pediatricians). The tradeoff for this personal attention is that waits can be long. If someone else needed extra time before you, or if Dr. Brennan was delivering a baby earlier in the day, there is no one else to step in so you will wait. But when it’s your turn, you get as much time as you need/want, and to us this tradeoff was worth it. We were also very happy with Lenox Hill hospital where Dr. Brennan delivers. The nurses were great as were the doctors whom we saw before Dr. Brennan arrived. I was not interested in a “natural” birth but still wanted not to have too many extra procedures/medications, and the hospital team was very good at being patient and waiting to see if something was needed before plunging ahead.Review submitted via the 2014 Birthing Survey
Member Review: Dr. Brennan and his wife, Jayce, were absolutely amazing during my pregnancy and during and after the delivery of my baby. They are practical people who practice traditional medicine, with good sense, and both of them have a great sense of humor. They took time to listen to all our concerns and answered all our questions (and we had a lot as first-time parents). I ended up having a C-section because the baby was transverse and my husband and I felt completely confident knowing that Dr. Brennan was handling it. His assistants are also very helpful and he was available to answer questions day or night. I called him on his cell phone at 4 a.m. (during a long weekend) when I went into labor and he answered and calmed me down. He delivers babies at Lenox Hill and we had a positive experience there too. We feel as if he and his wife are almost part of the family--shortly after our first baby was born, we only half-joked to one another that we should get going on having another one right away so that we could see Dr. Brennan. We highly recommend him. Insurance details: He takes GHI and we never had to file any paperwork. Review based on birth of 2014 babyReview submitted via the 2014 Birthing Survey
Member Review: I really like Dr. Brennan and his practice. He saw me through two pregnancies (both uncomplicated). There is always a VERY long wait at his office, but once you're with him he takes time to go over any questions or concerns, and he and his wife (who helps run the practice) were available to me for any and all emergency calls, no matter what time of day. He is pretty laid back in general and not too alarmist, but when there was something to be concerned about he acted appropriately cautious. Insurance details: Yes. During my first pregnancy in 2011 it turns out they didn't even charge me co-pays (or deductible?) for the ultrasounds that he does every visit (I only learned this because during my second pregnancy in 2014 I did get charged). This is something to consider - if your insurance doesn't fully cover ultrasounds, you might ask him not to do them every visit if they're not medically necessary. have really liked Dr. John Brennan, who takes Aetna. His office is in Brooklyn Heights, and he used to deliver at both LICH and Lenox Hill, but since LICH closed he now only delivers at Lenox Hill. I believe he has reviews on Park Slope Parents - I really like him and his wife who helps run the practice; only downside is that there is ALWAYS a long wait at the office...Caring OB/GYN who takes GHI
We also have GHI. I wanted to recommend Dr. John Brennan in Brooklyn Heights (a short walk from Borough Hall). I think the world of him. He is a single practitioner with an extremely busy practice, who makes you feel like you're the only one in the office. He is truly a gifted physician who I trust implicitly. I often see Dr. Gordon recommend Dr. Brennan on the list. Downsides: Wait times can be long (especially late in the day). Office is small and old (bottom of a brownstone). Supposedly they are working on a new space. Hope this helps!Re: Obstetrician
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Brennan on Clinton Street. 718-222-3636. I had 2 amazing deliveries with him and have recommended him to all my friends who have had great deliveries with him including VBAC.(no subject)
I was unhappy with my ob (in Manhattan) for my first pregnancy. I regret not switching early on, but I figured she was as good as anyone else and it seemed like a lot of trouble to switch. I also wanted to deliver at the hospital she was affiliated with. When I finally tried to switch doctors late in my pregnancy, the doctors I contacted wouldn't take me because I was too far along. Some of them seem to have strict policies about this. I delivered at Cornell and loved the hospital, so I was happy with that, but felt like things could have gone better with a different doctor. Now, I am planning a second pregnancy and have started seeing Dr. Brennan in Brooklyn Heights. I've only seen him once but I liked him. He sees patients here on Clinton St. but delivers at LICH or Lenox Hill, an option I appreciate because the appointments are conveniently located in Brooklyn, but I can use a world-class hospital in Manhattan for the actual delivery. Also nice is that if there is a blizzard or something that makes travel to Manhattan difficult, you can meet him at LICH instead.(no subject)
After many heartbreaking pregancies, my wife has gone to Dr. Brennan (718) 222-3636, who may have offered some insight about possible reasons for our losses that many geneticists and other doctors failed to catch. He's also absolutely lovely. Affiliated with LICH. My wife, who's had to see far too many doctors, loves him. Good luck. June 2012(no subject)
i think dr. brennan on clinton street in Brooklyn Heights might be a great option. He is not high risk, but a lot of high risk patients use him anyway. He is always up on the latest advancements in the field, and really takes his time to get to know his patients. I delivered both my kids with him. My first pregnancy was very difficult. I was on bed rest from 26 weeks. He took very good care of me. the office wait can be very long in the afternoon/evening. I think it is totally worth it. The doc takes his time with each patient. I had 2 wonderful experiences with Dr. Brennan on Clinton Street and all of my friends have used him too. His care is exceptional and his office staff are just the nicest people. (July 2011)(no subject)
I think pretty much everyone is pleased with Dr. John Brennan. Although he is (by his own admission) a man, his lovely wife Jayce works side by side with him and runs his office, and he is a smart doctor and a very lovely person. We trained together at Albert Einstein and I've known him a long time an have great faith in him as a clinician and a mensch. (September 2011)(no subject)
He's not in the Slope, but Dr. John Brennan is super. He took great care of me during an unexpectedly complicated and long labor this summer (and in the months leading up to it). He operates a solo practice in Cobble Hill. (September 2011)
