OB who can work closely with psychiatrist
I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. I don't have specific advice regarding the psychiatrist, but I do have an OB recommendation. I saw Johanna Weiss at Weill Cornell for my last pregnancy. She's far from Brooklyn (85th & 2nd), but I saw her for every single appointment. She doesn't do deliveries anymore which means she's always in the office. Even if she's too far, I suggest finding a doctor who no longer delivers, then rotate through delivering doctors during your last few weeks of pregnancy. Good luck and congrats!Review submitted via the Park Slope Parents 2017 Birth Survey
Provides excellent care, with a very compassionate, warm demeanor. She takes the time to answer all of my questions, is very thorough in the information she provides and is reasonable and non-fear-mongering in her approach. She was also very responsive in spotting potential issues in pre-natal tests (fortunately everything was ok) and in fitting me in right away when I had some post-natal issues. She has been my OB-GYN for three pregnancies. For each baby, I aimed for a vaginal, unmedicated birth as natural as possible, and she was supportive of this. For instance, my second two babies were past the due date, and she respected my wishes to wait a while before being induced (they both arrived on their own, before I needed to). However, she does not deliver babies, so one of her partners at Weill Cornell Medical Associates (whoever is on call) will be the attending OB at the delivery for Dr. Weiss's patients. I have had experience with all of her partners at various visits to the practice and feel confident with each of them. Dr. Alison Boester delivered my first and third babies, and was very supportive and encouraging in the delivery room (I think the OB who delivered my second is no longer with the practice). I love Dr Weiss and have been going to her for over 10 years. She's kind and attentive and takes time with her patients. She does not deliver (just does prenatal care), however, which means you end up with another doctor. That said, odds are you would end up with another Dr anyhow, and you spend much more time in the 9.5 mos leading up to L&D. I love Dr Weiss and the office is great. I don't think I ever had to wait!
