Jay Gardens. 347-409- 4757 is a garden designer who does that kind of work in the winter. He just finished a Reno on our backyard. He has done a beautiful garland and lights on our neighbors house over the past few years.

Had an outstanding experience with Jay Gardens. They took the time and effort to transform our jungle in to a simple and elegant garden. Highly recommend!

We love Jay of Jay Gardens. He transformed our yard. He built us 6 planter beds and we now have a flourishing garden. He is also a pleasure to work with. Super laid back and creative.

I recommend Jay of Jay Gardens. He is very thoughtful and very affordable. His approach is "less is more" which I really appreciated. He also gives a discount to PSP folks I believe. (July 2014)
  • amazing gardener

My family and I just moved into a house. It is the first house I have ever lived in...ever! We moved into a space with a backyard that was completely disheveled and I had I idea what t do with it. I hired Jay of Jay Gardens to help me. I cannot speak more highly of him and his work. He is creative, makes good use of repurposed materials is affordable and super lovely to work with. He transformed our backyard into a beautiful space. We now have kale, tomatoes, baby bok choy, a variety of lettuces and peppers, and an assortment of herbs flourishing in our plant beds. If you happen to be looking for some help, Jay is your man. I am not at all affiliated with Jay....just a happy client!
  • [PSP] want to leave a review for Jay Gardens

We have lived in Park Slope for 5 years and spent endless hours the first 2 summers tilling, aerating, seeding, and re-seeding our lawn, with no success. We probably tried 5 different types of turfbuilder, lawn mix, etc., and grass grew a bit but always died shortly thereafter. We stopped gardening all together 3 years ago, and after 5 years of a wasted outdoor space we finally decided to get some help. We spoke with 3 Gardeners before we found Jay, all of whom said we were just not doing it right, and that we should probably lay down sod. When Jay came, he had one look at the grass area and advised it was likely both a soil and seed problem. We spent a few hours with Jay discussing what types of plants, flowers and ground cover we like and don't like, and the general shape we were envisioning for the new bed layouts. He came back to us quickly with a proposal for a variety of plants and flowers, and was extremely helpful in advising on alternative plants that would help us stay under budget. For the grass, we ended up digging up the entire garden on Jay's advice, and found a dumpster full of bricks, glass, and other materials that were clearly contributing to a less than ideal soil make up. (Jay did find 3 enormous stones and had the idea to reuse them as steps into the garden - brilliant!). Our garden is north facing and has a lot of shade from a neighbor's tree, and Jay didn't think sod was the answer. He found an eco mix of grass and clover and at this point we were willing to try anything. The eco mix worked PERFECTLY and is still growing strong. The clover blend gives it a soft and natural feel and look, and our 18m old son loves rolling around in it as much as we do :) Jay's approach to the entire project was extremely thorough and professional, but I think his greatest asset is his thoughtful approach and ability to listen to our (amateur) vision and convert it into a sustainable reality. He has been extremely accessible for additional questions we have had over the past few months, mostly regarding maintenance. It has truly felt like a collaborate project rather than a service provider delivering a job. We routinely joke that we have a 300% quality of life increase now that we use the garden every weekend, but it's actually pretty accurate. We thank Jay for all his hard work and highly recommend Jay Gardens!!!

I wanted to give a shout out for Jay of Jay Gardens. I found him recommended in PSP and he came and tackled my yard, which was a huge huge mess, and cleaned the whole thing up so incredibly. I can't wait for step 2 of the transformation (now that we're out with the old, on to the in-with-the-new phase!). Not only did he and his helper to a fantastic job, but he went above and beyond, cleaning off the deck and bricks. The transformation isn't even complete but it's already amazing just to walk out there and see how fantastic it looks. He's also a dad and a great guy, and was very kind to my 5 year old, who was home sick for the day when Jay was here. July 2012

Jay did a great job for us, not just in selecting plants and cleaning up our garden, he also was a good listener, made cost-saving suggestions (and kept on budget!), emailed pics of plants that might work in our space, and for the amount of time/energy I was realistically able to expend in upkeep. Also made himself available for questions and related angst for me, the horticulturally-challenged. July 2012

Just wanted to pass along the name of a great, affordable landscaper we found. PJ Jones recently helped us do a full spring clean-up of our backyard. He was reliable, prompt, friendly and affordable. He did a great job and I wanted to share his contact info in case anyone needs similar help. jaygardens.com 347-409-4757 PJ@jaygardens.com June 2012
