- Review from the 2025 Birthing SurveyJaime was my doula for a second time. Her experience with home birth was really reassuring. She was a calm and positive presence throughout my labor and was a huge part of why it was such a positive experience. She is kind, supportive and an all around lovely person.
- Unmedicated birth experience at NYU Langone TischI had an non-epidural birth at NYU, with Spring OB/GYN as my provider. The whole experience is a long story and a mixed bag (including a negative experience with 1 Spring doctor before my actual labor). I ended up being induced at 41 weeks. I strongly believe the reason I didn’t get an epidural was because I had a great doula (https://jaimelewisdoula.com/) and took a great birth class (https://birthsmarter.com/) so I understand how and why medical intervention happens and knew what questions to ask and how to advocate for myself. As well as a great partner who was on board with my desires for our baby’s birth
- Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing SurveyWhat month and year was your child born? 2022 Review: Jaime was fantastic. Her and her doula partner Christine were a great help before labor, and having Jaime there during labor really made a difference. She was calm, she kept me calm. She was able to explain what was going on. Plus she brought so many things (nice smelling oils, cushions to kneel on when I was pushing while squatting.) Any advice for people who are considering using a birth doula? I encourage everyone who can to get a doula. I had a scare toward the end of my pregnancy, and while my doula wasn't at the hospital with me, I was texting her through out and her advice, support and guidance really helped me during a scary time. And then during actual labor, her knowledge and understanding of what was happening/about to happen really helped me to feel at ease. Her presence allowed me to take a beat when the doctor said she was going to do something. Also, when working through a contraction, it was great to lean on my husband and have a doula press on my sacrum. Doulas are great.
