6yo refuses classes
I’m sorry you’re going through this, we went through something similar with our 7yo but it was more sudden. Lots of refusals about going to school, soccer, swim, not wanting play dates. After discussing with his teacher and not finding anything, we turned to a child therapist. This was right around the beginning of the year so it was tough but we ended up with a wonderful, calm, empathetic therapist that drew my child out of their shell. We found out more about his fears and anxieties and that really helped. We saw Irena Kenny in Park Slope ((646) 221-0616, therapy@irenakenny.com) and she transitioned beautifully to zoom sessions. She is an art therapist and my child loved ‘doing’ something while talking to her.
