  • Alternative to Fresh Direct?

For any Instacart order, Wegmans always gives paper (which is annoying AF), but our ShopRite the shopper usually gets their reusable grocery bag (or 2, so annoying since we have so many already but less plastic/paper waste)
  • Alternative to Fresh Direct?

Costco (through Instacart or Costco.com) - limited selection of products, but no paper or plastic bags (just re-used cardboard boxes)
  • Alternative to Fresh Direct?

I order Wegmans through Instacart. You can message with them through the app in real time and ask them not to use plastic bags for produce, and they pack the groceries in paper bags.
  • Competitors to FreshDirect?

We use Instacart and order from Fairway most of the time (but can choose your favorite store) So far it’s been fantastic and the delivery windows are great - many times I can order and get delivered within a few hours. If you pay attention when the shopper is shopping you can communicate with them and make edits or replacements with them live.
  • Grocery delivery services?

I use Instacart - it's $14.99 a month and I can order from a number of different grocery stores (including Costco without paying the annual membership fee) and it includes an unlimited number of deliveries. But the cost doesn't include tips for the delivery people so that's extra and can add up depending on the # of times you use it.
  • Grocery delivery services?

I buy from Whole Foods via Instacart. I try to do a big order to make it worth the fee, usually on Sunday afternoon so we’re ready for the week. The best part is meal planning/looking at recipes while I shop - I never miss an item this way! It’s made life way easier.
  • Grocery delivery services?

We typically use Fresh Direct -- we've always had a great experience. One time there was an issue with delivery due to the truck breaking down but they refunded the delivery fee and gave us a $20 credit, and then delivered the next day. We find the prices to be comparable to Fairway/Whole foods. I've always loved their produce too so will order if the farmers market isn't an option. They will also replace a damaged/spoiled item the next day (I haven't had an issue but a friend did). Overall, they have great customer service and the delivery team will always bring upstairs. I've also used Instacart but I find the fees for a non-VIP membership to be a bit high (both delivery fee and a service fee that is 10-15% of your total bill). I like that you can communicate with the shopper as they go through the store in case something is available, but I don't always find the replacements to be great. Also, I always have to go down to get the bags, which is fine but just an FYI.
