  • Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing Survey

OBGYN: Lina Pilshchik What month and year was your child born? May 2022 Review: No nonsense, no frills OB who is open to following your birthing plan. I appreciated her practical, calm bedside manner. I can’t comment on the actual birthing as she was not working that night and I ended up with a backup OB and a backup hospital.
  • ObGyn who uses ultrasound at checkups

I recommend Dr. John Wirth - located downtown near Fulton stop. He uses ultrasound at every pregnancy appointment. He is a very, very good doctor and I wholeheartedly trust him. https://www.yourobgyn.org/provider/john-c-wirth-iii-md
  • 2019 Birth Survey

Multiple decades of experience delivering babies. Trusted his medical opinions and knowledge. Knew I was in good hands. He executed my c-section flawlessly. And made the right call. But Never loved his bedside manner - could do a better job of the human side of medicine. What was telling was after I came in for the post birth follow up - he didn’t even ask me how my son was doing.
  • [Summer2017Babies] OBGYN

I super loved Dr. Wirth at Innovative Healthcare Physicians in Downtown, near Fulton Center. It was my first experience with a male GYN, and it was great. I had originally planned to see his partner, Dr. Pilshchik, but she went on maternity leave by my second visit. I did end up seeing her from time to time, but Dr. Wirth delivered. They are affiliated with NYU Langone and Lennox Hill, where I delivered because NYU did not have any openings (I ended up being induced). Dr. Wirth was knowledgable, sweet, and patient. He let me go as late as I could (2 weeks past due date) and let me have plenty of time to come to terms with the eventual C-section I had to have. Given that nearly everything went the opposite of what we planned, he made it a great experience. I felt super comfortable with him the entire time, and I feel like I can ask him anything. His approach was pretty laid back, which I really appreciated. Not alarmist or full of rules. He also let me see the babe every time I went in, which was a nice treat. Like others have said, I miss the regular appointments, but I will see him for #2! His office staff is wonderful.
  • [ANONYMOUS] OBs/Midwives and doulas for VBAC

I had VBAC with Innovative Health Care Physicians, in downtown Manhattan (convenient for me b/c a few mere block from work). Dr. John Wirth was my designated dr, but Dr. Lina Pilshik did delivery. I showed up 9 cm dilated so was both VBAC and natural birth, complete success. They come up as VBAC friendly, I think … he seemed willing to let me go a LITTLE past my due date, but not much, and I believe he was unwilling to induce. But honestly can’t remember. The kid came day before his due date, so luckily a non-issue. They were fine. I probably liked her better than him. I would not say I “loved” them, but I valued the efficiency of the office since I was working full time and had the not quite 2 yr old. and in my experience they were competent. anyway not sure if you have that group yet so that I’d add to your list. I feel really really lucky with my 2nd birth, a truly amazing awesome experience, but I like to think I would’ve been happy enough with the actual birth regardless, since I now have two so far healthy kids.
