Age: 7 Types of Program Gardening, natural art, outdoor play Review The Honeysuckle Society is a parent-run afterschool at my son's school. The focus of the program is on outdoor, unstructured play and learning with a focus on nature. The kids help water the garden, pull weeds, turn the composter, make signs for their adopted trees, paint pumpkins, sew pencil cases, hand weave, etc. My son has also attended the holiday camps in Prospect Park run by HS which are open to kids from all schools. Skills Learned Caring for a garden, free play, how to dress for all weather, cooperation, sewing and weaving Changes N/A
  • Review from the Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Afterschool Survey

REVIEW: My 6 year old loved attending the Honeysuckle Society afterschool program this year. The program is based on forest school principles and focuses on child-led activities and exploration. My son went on filed trips to the botanical gardens, the natural history museum, and community gardens. My son always looked forward to attending honeysuckle. Skills learned: Caring for trees and plants, hand knitting, recycled crafts, free-play, child-led activities. What would you change? N/A Age of child: 6
