Chiming in to recommend HIIT Box if it hasn't already been mentioned. Maryam is a tough trainer but customizes for all levels, and the gym (on Union between Nevins & Third) is clean, bright, big, and ventilated. She also holds outdoor classes on occasion. All the trainers there are wonderful. It's one of those places that after a month -- or even two weeks -- your body really changes in tangible ways. bkhiitbox.com very team oriented & fast paced!Where are the local business gyms you love?

I love HIIT Box on Union Street neard 3rd Ave, owned by Maryam Zadeh! I've been going there for years, since they were at their smaller location by Roothill Cafe. It's a no nonsense, class-based HIIT Studio, with anywhere from 5-15 people per class (men and women, but mostly women). It's a cool environment with 30 or 50 minute class options, and you get a killer workout. You can purchase class by class, or a membership, and you do everything through her app - highly recommend, and Maryam is all about local businesses! Happy new year! I don’t know about Beast Fitness but I highly recommend HIIT Box on Union bw 2nd and 3rd Ave. I’ve gone for a couple of years and it’s a great workout. The owner, Maryam, is very dedicated to her clients and has hired some great teachers.Interval high intensity class like Beast Fitness
Oh no, I’m so sad Beast closed! I also go to Hiit Box on Union bet Nevins and 3rd. Also a good high intensity workout. Hope this helps!SHOUT OUT for a great workout
If you're pressed for time (and who in this group isn't?) I highly recommend you check out HIIT Box on Carroll Street and 4th Ave. It's small group (only up to 5 people per class) high intensity interval training (in my opinion the most exercise you can get in 50 minutes without injuring yourself). Strength training and cardio in one. I found out about trainer/owner Maryam Zadeh on PSP while on maternity leave with my daughter (now 14 months)--someone had posted a shout out to her saying that she had kicked their butt back into shape after having kids and not working out for two years. I was worried because I had not worked out in over a year and a half and was in the worst shape of my life. It was a killer those first few sessions. It's still challenging (that's the point!), but I have seen my body transform in only four months--and I only go once or twice a week. I can't stand drill sergeant style trainers; Maryam strikes the perfect balance of pushing you hard and cheering you on. She's a stickler for good form and doesn't let you quit or complain--but you can modify exercises if you need to. You get a lot of individual attention it's a great community of people who go there. There is usually a discount code available to get 10% off any package. I think she's also on Classpass.Shout out for AMAZING trainer/fitness classes
Hi parents, I just wanted to give a huge shout out for an *amazing* fitness trainer, Maryam Zadeh, who just opened her own studio called HIIT BOX. Maryam is the most passionate trainer I have ever met, and is now teaching small group classes in her beautiful brand new studio. She also does one on one personal training sessions. Maryam has taught me so much about fitness over the last several years, and I cannot emphasize enough how challenging her approach is and how much she has helped me achieve. Her studio is called HIIT BOX, and is located at 527 Carroll St. at the corner of 4th Avenue.Shout out for AMAZING trainer/fitness classes
I would like to second that sentiment. I have been working with Maryam for almost 2 years, the longest I have stuck with any exercise program.Shout out for amazing exercise classes
I just wanted to send a shout out about an amazing exercise place that just opened up on Carroll and 4th ave. It's called "HIIT Box" which stands for "high intensity interval training" and is run by trainer Maryam Zadeh who is a long time Park Slope resident. I have been working out w Maryam for over a year in small group sessions of 2-3 people but now she has just opened up this new larger place off 4th ave and has room for more people each hour. (I originally learned about her from another PSP parent.) The workouts are really fabulous- very intense and never boring because we are constantly doing new things. I have gotten so much stronger over the past year, and I know that I would never push myself this hard on my own. We do short sets that alternate between cardio and strength and core exercise (metabolic conditioning) so just when you think you literally can't take any more, you move on to a totally new exercise! There is also a really nice community of people who go to Maryam and I've really gotten to enjoy the people I've met and the friends I have made through these classes. I'm not affiliated with Maryam or her business - I just love the workouts and thought people should know about a great place to go for an intense hour of exercise.Shout out - fitness instructor
I started working with Maryam 6 months ago in an attempt to get back in shape after having my second child. I remembered her from an article in the nytimes and saw a shout out on psp about her. She is fantastic! She works you hard--way harder than you'd do on your own. She keeps things moving at a fast pace so before you get to the point when you want to give up, she's already telling you to do the next exercise. And they're sequenced so your muscle groups get a break to recover. She's really safe. She watches your form, adjusts the workout and does great stretches. I haven't had a single injury. She's great company, keeps you motivated, and celebrates your progress. Plus she tells stories while you sweat, which is distracting in a good way. She's incredibly versatile. She works with all levels, from beginners to Olympic-level, and draws on many styles of fitness (boxing, kickboxing, tons of core work, cardio, kettle bells, etc.) to build workouts. The approach she uses is called "metabolic conditioning" or "High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). She makes the logistics easy so you have no excuses. She now works out of a great space and offers singles, doubles and triples (which brings the cost down). She's incredibly well-qualified. She's a certified Personal Trainer who does ultra-high-end corporate training at Equinox (Tier 4), in addition to working with her own clients. And if that's not enough, she's also super kid friendly.Amazing personal trainer
I am writing to heartily recommend Maryam Zadeh, an amazing personal trainer with whom I have been training for about 7 months now. She lives in Park Slope and has received numerous glowing recs from other PSP members over the years (check out the reviews that appear on the PSP website under "reviews/recommendations"/"health/mental health"/"personal trainers"). I found her through a friend who started training with her a few months before me, and we are both totally hooked! Here are some of the things we love about her: · She works you hard – gets me to do things I would never do on my own – but doesn't make you suffer. She keeps things moving at a fast pace so before you get to the point when you want to give up, she's already telling you to move on to the next exercise. And they're sequenced so your muscle groups get a break to recover. She's really safe and highly qualified: a certified personal trainer who does ultra-high-end corporate training at Equinox (Tier 3), in addition to working with her own clients, she clearly knows her stuff. She watches your form, adjusts the workout and does great stretches. She works with all levels, and draws on many styles of fitness (boxing, kickboxing, tons of core work, cardio, spinning, kettlebells, etc.) to build workouts. The approach she uses is called "metabolic conditioning" or "High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). You can do workouts in your home (even in a small space), her home studio, or outside. She uses equipment you may have (yoga mats, hand weights) and brings stuff herself. She's also great company, keeps you motivated, and celebrates your progress. Plus she tells stories while you sweat, which is distracting in a good way. Finally, she offers affordable rates. You can sign up for individual sessions, a package of private sessions, or join a regular group session she does at Ft Greene Park a couple mornings a week (see this piece for more: http://fort-greene.thelocal.nytimes.com/2013/01/07/cold-days-dont-deter-mothers-workouts/).Personal Trainer Recommendation
I'd like to put in a recommendation for my personal trainer, Maryam Zadeh - (323) 812-1188. She's amazing and will really work you out! I've seen many personal trainers that sit and chat and don't really get you to do much but Maryam will work you hard while being careful about injuries and changing up the elements of your work out as you need. She really helped me get back in shape after having my daughter and I'm the strongest I've ever been right now. She will come to your house and/or work you out at the park too. Highly recommend!personal trainer rec for knee pain?
I've had a great experience with Maryam Zadeh who trained me pre-ACL repair surgery and has helped me hugely with recovery. She's great all around and able to address problem knees.(no subject)
Interested in getting in super duper shape? Try out the wonderful local park slope personal trainer, Maryam Zadeh. Its fun and easy. She got me back in shape after I broke my ankle last winter. I recommend her highly!(no subject)
I'd like to second the recommendation for Maryam! She is a great--extremely professional, reliable, great at training, but also very flexible and understanding of training a mom of a baby/child. She's been great about working around my son's naps and is very sweet with him, too.(no subject)
I highly recommend Maryam Zadeh - awesome trainer and fellow PSP member. I've been working with Maryam for about a year - she comes to my house. I love the workouts (she has a fantastic bootcamp approach). My husband saw how great the workouts are decided to train with her too. I've got only good things to say. Contact Maryam at Maryamzadeh@yahoo and good luck!(no subject)
I just started working with her a few weeks ago so I don't see much change yet, but it feels good to get the blood flowing once a week. And I've scheduled it for after my son's bedtime so I don't have to worry about my husband's schedule or finding childcare since I don't have to leave the house to work out. She's also open to two people sharing the hour for only slightly more than an individual would pay, I think. (January, 2011).(no subject)
As we start to think about our New Year's Resolutions, I want to recommend my personal trainer, Maryam Zadeh. She does Boot Camp classes in Prospect Park but - even better - she does one-on-one private training. And she'll come to your house! She put together a sophisticated workout for me with very basic equipment that she brings with her to supplement the yoga mat and free weights that I have at home. We do boxing and kickboxing, weights, bandwork and tons of core work. I love our workouts, so I wanted to spread the word. Her rates are very reasonable. If you mention that I sent you, she'll offer you a holiday package. (December, 2010).
