- Review from the Spring 2023 Birthing SurveyWhat month and year was your child born? January 2023 Review: Heidy was terrific! We didn’t secure our doula until I was already in the third trimester and I’d recommend picking one sooner if you think you’ll go that route. Heidy was so supportive, informative and communicative. She was very helpful as we developed a birth plan and also helped us identify questions to raise with our Obgyn group as well. I ended up being induced and Heidy was with us for the long haul. She was such a calming presence and it was great to have another supportive person with me. She also helped my husband be the best birthing partner for me! Postpartum we had one in person visit with Heidy but she was available by text for any and all frantic first time parent questions. Any advice for people who are considering using a birth doula? We really struggled with deciding whether a doula would be “worth it.” Hence, we didn’t secure one until my third trimester! In the end, I’d say a doula was worth it for us because she helped calm my anxieties as a first time mom. She was super helpful as we navigated different things during labor.
- Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing SurveyOur twins came home after spending a few days in the NICU. They were our first children and we were SO thankful Heidy was there for us that first night and throughout the two months that followed. Having to take care of two babies when you don't really know what you're doing is no joke and Heidy was amazing. Not only was she very loving with them, she also took great care of them. She also showed us so many things and answered our many questions (we had so many!). As a new mom with post partum anxiety, Heidy was a great support and really helped me gain confidence. She helped me with breastfeeding, pumping and was so supportive throughout that whole journey. The twins loved her and always were happy to see her. We were also able to get some rest at night while she was watching and taking care of them, something we desperately needed, and I had total trust in knowing I was leaving them in great hands. I would recommend Heidy to anyone having one or two babies!

- Review submitted via the PSP Birth SurveyHeidy was our birth and post-partum doula. My labor was close to ideal--fast and uncomplicated--but even in this best case scenario I'm glad we had Heidy to coach us through it. Heidy proactively met us at the hospital when I still couldn't believe I was all that far along. As first-time parents, we found it especially valuable to have her level-headed, knowledgeable, and warm companionship during labor and delivery. Heidy did all sorts of little things to help with the pain, to stand up for me when I couldn't express myself well, and to prevent unnecessary interventions. Just to give one example, at one point it was suggested that we might want internal monitoring (because the baby kept moving away from the external monitors). Heidy reassured me that it would be no big deal, but nevertheless took the initiative to stand by my bedside and reposition the external monitor when the baby moved away. She also took the very earliest pictures we have of our child! While my husband and I were immersed in the whole experience, we didn't even notice her snapping away. I'm so thankful that we have these very special pictures because of her! Based on a August 2017 birthing experience
