Description
Long-time Brooklyn Providers Dedicated to Serving Brooklyn Families!
Our playgroup has been serving Brooklyn families for nearly 10 years and love our community deeply. We believe every child is special and unique and a great member of our community. We teach love, kindness, empathy and real sense of community in our home.
Our daily schedule will always include circle time, yoga, multicultural music, reading, art, structured indoor and outdoor play in our large yard or local playground, rest time, snack and lunch. We will be planting, exploring the neighborhood, cooking, having dance parties and most importantly learning how to make friends and express our feelings in a small nurturing and supportive group setting. In our program, children feel genuinely cared for, loved and cherished as an important member of our playgroup.

Greenwood Heights Playgroup :) Best thing that happened to our daughter. An absolute gem in the neighborhood.Review from the 2023 Summer Camp Survey
Location: South slope How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 3 Review: Our kid LOVED camp. It’s a bit less structured than other places with a lot of play, outdoors (they have a backyard with a bunch of toys but also go to various playgrounds), water etc. Every dah ended with a homemade icey and chalk art on the pavement unless it was too hot. She kept running in the door with a quick good bye and came back home very tired. Patty and Maya also helped her with potty training as well. This place is amazing and kids are very well loved. Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? They run a tight ship when it comes to sickness and very open and clear with their communications.Review from the Spring 2023 Early Education Survey
Review: It was amazing! Patty runs an amazing program - clean, safe and in her beautiful home. She is welcoming and focuses on PLAY! Amazing experience for my son. It works well if you need part time care (9-12 or 9-3) Amenities: Has outdoor space What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? No I would notReview from the 2022 Summer Camp Survey
Location: Greenwood Heights How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 2 Review: The camp was awesome. Every week there was a different theme (beach, plants, bugs, space) with related activities. Our kid loved every second of it. A lot of outdoors time (both in their backyard and parks/playgrounds)Daycares in Greenwood
Greenwood Heights Playgroup on 22nd street between 5th and 6th ave. Can not recommend it highly enough.Greenwood Heights Playgroup
I’m writing in support of Greenwood Heights Playgroup, located on 22nd btw 5th and 6th Aves. Patty and Maya have run their small, intimate playgroup out of Patty’s home for the past 10 years. They are looking to enroll students for the fall. It’s a great option if you’re still looking for part time childcare (M-Th, 9-3, with a 9-12 option) this fall and/or want an especially small group for your tot. My son (Jan 2019 baby) started there this past May, and they were so warm and caring, acclimating him into his first real environment with other kids. He just finished their July program and asks to go back. It’s where he learned to push in his chair, wear a mask over his nose, play with Mr. Potato Head, and stop at the end of a street.Playgroups?
Greenwood Heights Playgroup is lovely. Great teachers, warm environment, play based program. We've sent our 2 oldest there and they both thrived. They have several options for how many days and hours your child attends. It was the perfect first experience for our kids being outside the house with a consistent peer group.Recommendation for greenwood heights playgroup
Length of Time: 4 days per week Child's Age: 3-4 years Both of our children have loved Greenwood Heights Playgroup and we have too. Our youngest is headed to preK in the fall and has been at the playgroup for two years. It's such a warm and nurturing environment where playing, making friends, and exploring the neighborhood is emphasized. Our son is known for his ability to find worms and his love of anything cars related. He cheers when its a "school day." Two years later our daughter remains friends with several playgroup kiddos and can't wait to return for their big kid camp. Recommend (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend Would you send your child again? Absolutely (sent both my daughter (6) and son (3.5). And they both attend the summer camp there.2014 Daycare/Preschool PSP review

Length of Time: 3 days per week Child's Age: 3-4 years Review: I like everything about Greenwood Heights. The two teachers Maya and Patty are warm, dedicated and fun. They clearly love all of the children who attend. The space is spacious and clean with a big backyard. I also like that it's mixed age (2-4 years). A few kids dropped out last minute this year because of the new public pre-k options so they have spots available. Maximum is 12 kids I believe. Activities include art, music (City Stomp) and outside activities (they either go out to the backyard or to the nearby playground) and yoga (right now they are looking for a new yoga teacher). I and my son really love this place. It's also affordable and offers flexible hours. One thing that might be challenging for some parents is that they are closed on Friday. Recommend (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend Would you send your child again? Absolutely2014 Daycare/Preschool PSP review

Wonderful at transitioning my son (who had been home with me full time) into playgroup environment. Very playful environment. Have music and yoga teachers come once a week for additional activities. My daughter has been attending Greenwood Heights Playgroup for almost 2 years and we couldn't be more happy. She wakes up every morning excited to go to school and comes home very tired and happy from all the day's activities. Patty and Maya are great - they are warm, nurturing, dedicated and fun. The space and environment are very welcoming and cozy where children feel safe and comfortable. The kids are exposed to a number of activities including music, art and yoga and the group spends time outside at either the parks, playground or their lovely backyard. I love their focus on learning through play and feel that my daughter has blossomed in this environment. She has made some wonderful friends and we've met some wonderful neighborhood parents. I can't recommend this playgroup highly enough!Shout Out for Greenwood Heights Playgroup
I'm writing to let people know about the above playgroup. Our 2.5 year old daughter is currently enrolled there 3 days a week from 8:30-2:30 (we bumped her up from the original 9:30-12:30 as she dropped her nap recently), and she just LOVES it. Its been a great experience for us all having her come home so happy with her crafts, pictures, and her talk of yoga and music class, of the 2 wonderful teachers, Patty and Maya, and of all the friends she's made there. Patty and Maya are so loving and provide a safe and stimulating atmosphere. There are the activities I mentioned, plus a big backyard where they go and play, and a playground down the street that they head to in warmer weather as well. I'm writing to recommend it because a) we've had such a positive experience there, and b) because I think I was internet surfing for 2's programs when I found this and I'm not sure how well-known it is. Oh, and it is a true find, at only $10/hour, too! This time last year, we were set on getting a co-op situation going with neighbors and friends, but the scheduling was tough, and we decided to put Hazel Greenwood Heights. I'm so happy we did. They also hold a two and four-week summer camp that our daughter will be attending this summer too -- we are sure after a few weeks off, she'll be so dying to get back!Review for Greenwood Heights Playgroup
I just wanted to put in a good word for this sweet little playgroup. My daughter, now 3-1/2, has been attending twice a week for the past 7 months and we couldn't be happier. Patty and Maya are lovely teachers, very responsive, and great with the kids. We had zero transition time; my daughter liked it from the very first day. She does creative art projects, gets music and yoga classes, and lots of playtime. It is a warm, small-group setting, as well as a professionally run business -- a wonderful resource for the neighborhood!Review from 2013 Daycare/Preschool PSP Survey

Maya Marchese-Reilly is an amazing childcare provider. Before opening up her own center with Patty, she worked at the Park Slope Sports Club's childcare facility. I left my two young daughters under her care and direction almost daily. During that time she showed her creativity in age appropriate and educational art projects, interesting activities and read and discussed stories during downtime. My children were never bored and improved their social skills greatly. I highly recommend her.
