What month and year was your child born? October 2022 Review: I cannot say enough wonderful things about Grace MacNair. I met with another lactation consultant before scheduling with Grace and that IBCLC missed my son's tongue and upper lip tie. I knew something was wrong but because he was gaining weight, my concerns were dismissed by pediatrician and this first LC. I found Grace when my son was 9 weeks and she immediately confirmed my suspicions and quickly created a care plan for us. She is incredibly knowledgable about TOTs (tethered oral tissues) and has a robust network of providers she refers to. My son's latch immediately improved and he began sleeping with his mouth closed after his tongue tie and upper lip tie release. Grace also helped me with positioning and pumping and never hesitated to answer my many anxious emails filled with questions and concerns. She is so compassionate and so passionate about her work. I strongly recommend working with her and her team for lactation support and even more so if you have any concerns about tongue, lip, or buccal ties.Review from the Spring 2023 Birthing Survey
What month and year was your child born? November 2022 Review: I really liked Grace and her team. They took my insurance and made the process easy.Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing Survey
What month and year was your child born? January 2022 Review: Grace is incredibly smart and has a lot of energy and enthusiasm for birthing babies. She was able to get us working on a solution to my son's tongue and lip tie right away, which truly helped. She takes insurance, but not my insurance, so I am currently still working on her to get that submitted and billed as out of network.ISO: Lactation consultant?
I had a great experience with Grace MacNair. She does home and office visits and takes insurance so at least a portion of the cost may be covered. I was able to continue nursing because of her!Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
Grace was wonderful. She listened well, gave great advice and was never judgemental.Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
Very helpful. Takes insurance. Offered support before due date and after.Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
Helped me finally get over some pain I was experiencing during breastfeeding. We worked on some adjustments and she identified that his upper lip tie was a little tight and gave us some exercises to relax the area which helped with nursingReview from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
Grace is an amazing lactation consultant and even since I've stopped nursing and pumping I still follow her on instagram because the information she provides is so important and interesting. She has so much knowledge and experience about ALL aspects of infant feeding- including formula, bottle feeding, and pumping. With a preemie, getting them up to a healthy weight and making sure they eat enough was so stressful. Grace gave me confidence and ease during this time and was always a proponent of getting the baby fed by whatever means necessary. I never felt judged or frustrated about my difficulties nursing, she kept everything in perspective. My favorite part was all the relaxation and massaging exercises she had for the baby to help with feeding, they made a big difference and were great for bonding and overall infant well-being.Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
I saw several other LCs before Grace, and none of them were helpful. I knew something wasn’t right and Grace was the first person to take my concerns seriously. She spent a great deal of time with my infant examining her mouth and evaluating her suck, which no one else had done. She informed us that our little one had several ties, provided excellent referrals, and helped us develop a solid plan to be able to continue breastfeeding as that was our desire. She was open to hearing our wants and needs, and also definitely personalized the plan and care we received to those.Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
Grace is wonderful and I felt very supported with the care she provided. Breastfeeding did not work out for me in the end but I was glad I had Grace's help during the process.Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
Grace was life saving. She was practical, evidence based and diagnosed my daughter with tethered oral tissue after a very frustrating 6 weeks. I wasn’t in pain, but my daughter was also gaining weight very slowly, spitting up and had all these vague signs. Grace supported us expertly through the process.Review from the 2021 Birthing Experience Survey
Grace is great - out of the 5-6 LC's that we had spoken with (NYU included), she was the most thorough, understanding and realistic. Plus she made me feel comfortable with my decisions and goals about pumping and breastfeeding. She specializes in tongue ties and is so knowledgeable in that particular area.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
10/10 recommend Grace. So impressed with her vast knowledge and her sane, non-alarmist approach. Warm and professional demeanor, highly responsive, super thorough. She walked me through struggles with tongue tie, mastitis, and my baby’s cow milk allergy.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
Grace MacNair, the second lactation consultant I hired, was FABULOUS. She was extraordinarily helpful, and prorates her fee based on actual time spent. She also emailed me the filled-out form I needed to send to my insurance, which was incredibly helpful. She was extremely non-judgemental, warm, and so helpful.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
This was after my child’s birth, we had some breastfeeding issues. I liked Grace just fine, but the glowing reviews here seem exaggerated? Everything she told me to do was helpful but also so much more work than I could handle. “Do this exercise 6 times a day” stuff like that. Maybe that’s how they all are but I found it overwhelming.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
Grace provided early support and recommendations on my breastfeeding journey. She shared resources and information to help us maneuver through decisions, but was never forceful or pushy when it came to deciding what was best for us.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
SO knowledgeable and helpful. I trust and respect her opinion immensely and attribute much of my parenting success (so far) on her advice.Grace MacNair
I was referred to my amazing lactation consultant Grace MacNair, through the PSP March 2020 babies group. Several of the moms in the group spoke very highly of her and I can now attest they were right on the money! I have had 5-6 virtual sessions with her so and she couldn’t have been more helpful and knowledgeable in guiding me through the sometimes complex world of breastfeeding my little one. A major bonus being that she accepts insurance!Lactation consultant or IBLCE
I recommend grace macnair for IBCLC. I have MS and a partial ligament tear in my right wrist and she recommended modifications to help with positioning! Plus she’s awesome! NicoleVirtual lactation help
I wanted to drop a quick note on this thread to say thank you SO much for the recommendation of Grace MacNair. Our four day old struggled to latch from the beginning and hadn’t at all since we got home from the hospital. Within 15 mins of our virtual visit just now she had him latched on again - something many nurses and the hospital lactation consultant didn’t achieve. She has given us incredibly comprehensive advice that will make our lives so much easier. I couldn’t recommend her enough and many thanks to the original poster and follow up comments that meant I had her info at my fingertips. I am so relieved!Virtual lactation help
Hi all, thanks so much for this thread - it came at a moment of desperation for me so I contacted Grace immediately and she was very responsive, and able to get us in yesterday morning. She was so reassuring and normalized a lot of the struggle for me, and has us on a great plan now. I am feeling so much better and more confident. Also fantastic that she takes Aetna!Virtual lactation help
Agreed! Just had an appt with Grace today!Virtual lactation help
We are using Grace too! She is the best. Our baby was in the NICU for two weeks and therefore was getting bottle-fed and using a pacifier. I also had a delay in establishing milk supply due to his NICU stay. She has help increase my milk supply, helped my husband with paced bottle feeding, and as is also working with our baby’s latch. right now were using a nipple shield and she doesn’t make me feel bad about it. Baby is gaining weight! I can't say enough great things about herVirtual lactation help
I can attest to this. Grace is fantastic!Virtual lactation help
We delivered our baby at NYU on 3/14, and have been really struggling since with feeding. Baby has tongue tie and lip tie, and we went home feeling so deeply overwhelmed. We have been working through it with virtual visits with a lactation consultant and I wanted to share her information in case anyone else is struggling to find help amid isolation. We found Grace MacNair through Boober and she accepts both United Healthcare and Aetna insurance. It has made getting help for our feeding issues so much easier, and I can't express how thankful we are. Grace has been able to help us so much even from afar, and I'm feeling much more confident about working through our feeding issues. I hope this helps anyone who has been sent home with a baby who is struggling to breastfeed and gain weight.
