• High Risk OBGYN

  Dr Gheeta Sharma was my high risk OB. She recently left Cornell for Carnegie Hill OBGYN I can personally no longer see her as my insurance is not accepted there but if o needed a consultation alone I would go there. Good luck and try not to stress.

  I second Weill Cornell especially if you’re a high risk pregnancy. My doctor was Geeta sharma who I would go back to if I had a 2nd. Also really liked dr lee in that practice.

  absolutely wonderful. Caring and thoughtful. I had a high risk pregnancy and Dr Sharma was on top of everything and always made me feel calm. She was thorough in my care. Based on a May 2017 birthing experience

  Review: I went to Dr. Sharma as a high-risk patient who might have needed cerclage. She was cautious, but also didn't want to stitch me unless she could see the risk elevate as my pregnancy continued. She had me monitored weekly, and luckily, I didn't need the stitch. Great bedside manner. I would say the only negative associated with her is the wait in the waiting room. It could be very long at times. I wish I had known what her scheduler told me at the end... try for a 1pm appointment, because it's after lunch and the appointments usually aren't backed up at that point. Member notes about insurance: Dr. Sharma took my insurance, United Healthcare, and I believe she and her practice also take most major insurances. They submit the claim to your insurance provider directly. Based on a January 2016 birthing experience

  I had a previous pregnancy loss too, and when I got pregnant again I started seeing Dr. Geeta Sharma in Dr. Kalish's group. I'm not sure about Dr. Sharma's policy on transfers, but at 11 weeks I'm pretty sure you're still early enough that she'd take you. She was kind, honest, and sensitive: whereas the OB I'd seen previously always referred to embryo and fetus as the baby, Dr. Sharma used more neutral, less concrete, but still warm-sounding terminology (she referred to the fetus as the little one). That kind of thing may seem like no big deal to someone who hasn't lost a pregnancy, to me, in that terrible state of hopeful fear, it really mattered. I had placenta previa with that second pregnancy, and things were pretty dicey toward the end; Dr. Sharma's goal wasn't always to allay my fears, but to keep me realistic, which, in fact, probably kept my baby safer, since it prevented me from traveling during my third trimester (and the little guy came early, as it turned out). Perhaps just as importantly, my experience delivering at Weill Cornell was excellent. The hospital now supports mother/baby-friendly practices: doulas are welcome, newborns room with their mothers, lactation consultants are always available, etc. My son, born at 36 weeks, was hardly ever out of my arms while we were in the hospital. Dr. Sharma didn't deliver me, in the end--her senior colleague, Ioannis Zervoudakis, was the one on call when I needed an emergency C-section. But he was great too, and the experience was, without exception, excellent. I recommend the practice and the hospital without reservation. (November 2012)
