  • Real Estate Broker Recommendation?

I highly recommend Gabriele Sewtz of Compass. We worked with her few years ago to sell my co-op in Park Slope and buy our current condo in Prospect Heights. She lives in Park Slope and knows the area better than most! She helped us immensely with all aspects of buying and selling: from her experience as a certified stager to sell our place, to pointing out things we never would have noticed while looking for a new home. We also used her suggestions for a mortgage broker and lawyer and were very happy with them all! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
  • Real Estate Broker Recommendation?

I cannot recommend Gabriele Sewtz and Rob Schlederer more highly - they work together as a realty powerhouse team. You'll see they are highly recommended on PSP from previous months/years. Incredibly experienced and knowledgeable, calm, always offer multiple solutions when you think you have come to the end of the line (this is handy, particularly when you expect it go smoothly and then it doesn't). We had a very good experience with them for purchasing a home as well as for renting out our apartment (our apartment rented in 1 day, beautiful pictures). They respond asap, make you feel like their only client (when they have many simultaneous successful deals happening). Frank, fastidious, results-focused, will go out to bat for you. They also have great recommendations for real estate lawyers (Jesse Cohn) and mortgage brokers (Yossi Notik) who share the same qualities.
  • ISO: Real Estate Broker Specializes in Brooklyn

We worked with Gabriele Sewtz and Rob Schlederer at Compass. They were fantastic--very smart, responsive, no-nonsense, and knowledgeable. They both live in Brooklyn and Gabriele has 2 school-age children, so she knows about the schools process if that is relevant for you.

  • August 2020 Real Estate Agents: Shout them Out!

Our family *loves* Gabriele Sewtz at Compass--she is a realty powerhouse and also very kind and generous. Her team are wonderful too. She lives and has a family in Park Slope and knows the area very well. I wouldn't work with anyone else!
  • ISO Realtor Knowledgeable About Brooklyn Market

Hi! Just wanted to second the recommendation for Gabriele Sewtz. We worked with her 6 years ago when we were looking to buy in a tough market. She was very knowledgeable, always accessible and helped coach us through our purchase, even though it was for sale by owner. I also highly recommend a mortgage broker she often works with, Yossi Notik. We did our original financing and two re-finances with him, and I’d never have thought that process could be enjoyable until working with him!
  • 2019 Review

Gabriele was a huge help in us closing on our apartment in Prospect Heights this year. I knew relatively little about the housing distinctions (coop/condo, schools etc) - she listened to what we wanted and shared information. She made helpful walking maps for open houses that matched our criteria and joined us to give us pointers re: what to look for. When we were considering putting in an offer, she was never pushy but when we decided to go for it, she jumped into action in our behalf. Her recommendations for our inspector, real estate lawyer and mortgage banker were all equally professional and incredibly responsive. She helped us prep our coop application and interview - and was there to support at closing. As two folks skeptical of brokers generally - we know we wouldn't have gotten our place with as little stress and on the timeline we did without her.
  • 2018 Review

Last summer (after almost 12 months of searching) we closed on our 2-bed 2-bath apartment in Prospect Heights thanks to our Compass broker Gabriele Sewtz. It was a long road to get there, visiting over 50 different units around Brooklyn, and it was difficult for us not to get discouraged along the way. However Gabriele was incredibly positive throughout the entire process. She was ceaselessly determined and confident that we would eventually find our dream home, no matter how unlikely it seemed. Gabriele also has an incredible ability to spot and evaluate both strengths and unnoticeable weaknesses of each unit (almost as if she has x-ray vision). She’s all business, but also a pleasure to work with and consistently responsive. After a long search, we finally found a unit that we loved. She helped tremendously in competing with other offers and negotiating with the seller’s broker (who she had known for years) to seal the deal. She is truly powerhouse of a broker (with an entire team working under her) and we couldn’t have been happier choosing her to help guide us to our new home.

My husband and I were extremely honored and lucky to work with Gabriele Sewtz when purchasing our first home in Brooklyn last summer. Like most New Yorkers, we had been renting for many years and were looking to settle down. At first, the idea of buying a home in the city felt both daunting and almost impossible. We attended a First Time Home Buyers' Seminar hosted by Gabriele and her team and walked out feeling, for the first time, both encouraged and hopeful about the idea of buying our first home in the city that we love. We soon began working with Gabriele and immediately knew that we were in good hands. First and foremost, she is an excellent listener. We carefully explained what we were looking for and throughout the entire process, she was always mindful of our priorities and preferences. She is incredibly organized and knowledgeable and is truly at the top of her game when it comes to NYC real estate. She walked us through each step of the buying process with precision and confidence, ensured that we were thoroughly prepared and well-informed, always made herself available any time we had questions or needed assistance, and was so supportive throughout the entire process. Gabrielle did an incredible job in helping us find out first home and we are forever grateful to her. Her work is seamless and we cannot recommend her enough. If you need help buying or selling a home, look no further! Gabriele Sewtz is the best of the best.

As a two time client of Gabriele, I cannot recommend her highly enough. We worked with Gabby to purchase our home several years ago in Brooklyn and when it was time to sell we of course reached out to her again. Throughout both processes she was a great partner who guided us through every step. She knows the market better than anyone and was instrumental in us successfully selling out home.
  • Review of Real Estate Agent Gabriele Sewtz

I'm writing to enthusiastically recommend Gabriele Sewtz of Compass Realty to anyone selling property in brownstone Brooklyn. She helped us sell our 2-bedroom co-op in Park Slope a few months ago, and we were thoroughly impressed with her expertise, professionalism, kindness, and skill. From the day we met her, Gabriele and her team (including assistant Sara Schwartz) showed real vision for how to market, prep, and price our apartment. Just as importantly, she focused on our individual needs as a family with two small children who continued to live in the space we were selling. One week after she listed our space, over 100 attendees at our open house yielded eight offers, and we received the best price for our apartment we could have expected. Gabriele's unflappable grace helped us negotiate a tricky bidding war to chose the right buyers and close without a hitch. She knows the market and the neighborhood like no one else and gives phenomenal advice. From day one to closing, she was considerate, honest, hard-working, informed, and a genuinely enjoyable person to spend time with. I can't recommend her highly enough!
  • real estate broker review

I'd like to put in a good word for Gabriele Sewtz, who we feel very lucky to have found through word-of-mouth. We were looking to buy our first apartment, and many brokers seemed to simply want us to put our name down at the open houses we attended. Gabriele did so much more than that! She pounded the pavement with us for a "practice" open house Sunday, talked us through what we liked and didn't like in the places we saw, and helped us clarify goals as a couple. She walked us through putting in our first offers and helped us re-assess as we figured out how we could best compete in a seller's market. When hope waned, she was back out there with us, meeting us in various neighborhoods in Brooklyn. She shared her experienced views and opinions to help us get the best value while also finding an appropriate home for our growing family, all with our priorities in mind. Gabriele knows Park Slope and the surrounding neighborhoods very well, and helped us find everything we wanted. As first-time buyers it was essential for us to have someone available to us for every step of the process. I don't know if we ever would have managed to buy a place if we hadn't found Gabriele!
  • Review of real estate broker

Gabriele Sewtz was our real estate broker this past year and helped us sell our apartment in Park Slope. I'd like to highly recommend her. When we began thinking about selling we met with a couple of brokers and we were extremely impressed with Gabriele right off the bat. She came prepared with an impressive presentation which highlighted her knowledge of both the neighborhood and the market. During the process we were very impressed with her attention to detail. In order to keep the process moving she stepped in and really helped the buyers' broker with their board package submission. Our management company told me it was the best board package that they have ever received! We were trying to coordinate the sale of the apartment with another purchase, so taking this initiative to go above and beyond was really appreciated. Due to the perfect state of the board package the management company reviewed it and turned it over to our board in a matter of days. Anyone who has been through the process knows how stressful it can be. Gabriele always made us feel like a priority, talked us through the process, and leveraged her experience to help us. If you are looking to buy or sell, I highly recommend reaching out to Gabriele!

(Note: she used to be at Douglas Elliman.) We chose Gabriele after reading very positive reviews of her on Park Slope Parents, and we were SO glad we did. First, unlike any of the other brokers we interviewed, she reassured us about our biggest worry: if we found our dream place and the sellers refused to work with a buyer’s broker (some do), she would step aside gracefully rather than risking our losing the place. (This didn’t happen in the end, but it was great to hear from her that she understood that it might - other brokers just said that they disapprove of sellers who do that, which is understandable but totally unhelpful!.) Second, she was just great to go with to open houses and appointments: really knowledgable about the market and about what to look for in a place. She also was clearly focused on keeping us within our price range, and not over-paying for something that wouldn’t re-sell well. She understood what we were looking for but also had good suggestions for looking outside the neighborhoods we thought we wanted. She was opinionated (in a good way - I learned a lot from her opinions), but also very clear that she was there to help, and would always defer to our opinions if we were convinced we were right. Finally, in the end we had some tricky bidding to do, and I don’t think we could have done it without her. We got the first place we bid on, for less than we were expecting to pay, and are really happy with it! A great experience overall.
  • Recommendation

Gabriele Sewtz at Douglas Elliman helped to sell our Park Slope apartment very quickly and with such ease. She was there to answer any questions that we needed and everything was done so timely. I highly recommend her as a sales agent, as she was a pleasure to work with, and helped to sell our apartment so quickly!
  • Review: Gabriele Sewtz, real estate broker

I'm writing to highly recommend Gabriele Sewtz to anyone looking to buy or sell property in Brooklyn. In the past year, she's handled the purchase of my home, the rental of two apartments, and the sale of my mother's condo, all with expertise and finesse. She is excellent. She has a unique mix of deep market knowledge, connections, and experience that made all of these transactions a success. In the case of the purchase, it was her insight that led us to find a property we never would have considered without her. We love it here, and are grateful to have had Gabriele's help throughout the last year.
  • review of Gabriele Sewtz

    > Gabriele Sewtz is the very best real estate agent for sales and rentals that one could ever find. I have personally now had experience with her with both the sale of one condo and the rental of another in Park Slope, Brooklyn. In addition, she found an apartment for the tenants that had to move because of the sale. First and foremost, Gabriele really listens in order to understand what your goals are, and then is extremely responsive to your needs. She not only takes complete initiative, she also takes on additional, above-and-beyond tasks for her clients. For example, because I live in a different state than my New York property, she undertook for me the hiring of all workmen needed to fix up my condo and she saw that the jobs were done well. Personally, she is warm, trustworthy, and a pleasure to work with, and she since lives and works in the area, she has great depth of knowledge of not only Park Slope but all the surrounding communities. I had such a positive experience with her that I've recommended her to my own daughter who is currently looking to rent in Brooklyn.
  • review about Gabriele Sewtz

I agree. Our family has used her as a real estate agent (both buying and selling) several times. She has always done an outstanding job. In addition, she maintains the highest of standards even in very challenging situations.

Gabriele Swetz offered us a very good and reactive service. Gabriele is a very articulate professional with very deep knowledge of the area. Definitely an agent to recommend.

I highly recommend my real estate agent, Ms. Gabrile Sewtz. Gabriele is a true professional. When we initially sat down with her, I was impressed with her knowledge of the real estate market's trends and especially impressed with her intimate knowledge of what potential buyers need and what they are looking for. Less than a week after signing with her, she had a professional photographer take pictures of our apartment and had an open house where she was able to bring in over 40 potential buyers. Within a two months she had a qualified buyer at our doorstep with a competitive bid. Gabriele was always accessible and always called me back with answers. She literally held our hand and gave us sound advice every step of the way and made the whole process tolerable. If you want your apartment to sell at a competitive price, Gabriele is the agent for you. She wastes no time and get the job done.

I wanted to add a rave review of Gabriele Sewtz (of Prudential Douglas Elliman). Two years ago, we purchased our apartment and Gabriele went above and beyond our expectations of a real estate broker. She has in depth knowledge of the real estate market, and has a real feel for which areas are good/bad/worth investing in (she herself is a long time resident of Park Slope and moved here before it became the hot spot neighborhood that it is). When we found our dream apartment, Gabriele guided us through a very stressful bidding war and even though we were caught up in wanting the apartment, guided us to keep within our budget. We were first time home buyers, and Gabriele was excellent at preparing our coop package, and working with attorneys, inspectors, etc to make sure the whole process from offer to contract to closing went smoothly. Even though negotiations with the seller and her representatives were quite acrimonious, Gabriele took control of the situation and turned it to our advantage. We are so glad we found Gabriele, and we have recommended her repeatedly to friends.

I second this recommendation! Gabriele helped my wife and I with the purchase of our brownstone. We did the sale in early 2009, when the mortgage rules were changing weekly. I am 100% certain that the deal would have fallen apart at multiple points if Gabriele wasn't on top of every detail. Once that deal was done, she sold my coop apartment in Windsor Terrace. She had a qualified buyer offering a fair price in two days - and this was in 2009, not an easy time to sell a property. Can't recommend her highly enough.

Are you faced with a huge financial decision and have no experience or time on your hand? That was us last summer – looking for an apartment in Park Slope, a neighborhood we didn’t know well. After seeing a load of apartments and getting dizzy at monthly rental fees we felt disappointed and frustrated. The school year was just around the corner for our middle school student ready to start at MS 51 and I was getting bigger and slower expecting a second baby. To top it off, our high pace professional lives kept on pushing most of non urgent matters into the back burner. This is when we decided to get help and met Gabriele Sewtz from Prudential Douglas Elliman. Whole heartedly we can recommend her as she made the whole complicated and highly time consuming process of buying an apartment…a breeze. We needed somebody who held our hands and organized the whole process for us. She took care of finding us a real estate lawyer, house inspector and a mortgage broker – all hugely competent professionals, just like her. Being new to the real estate market we needed somebody we could trust – we were lucky to have Gabriele since she’s extremely responsible, honest and efficient. She got things done for us we thought could not be done. Still the process of buying an apartment should not hinge on luck – we needed a professional who would go an extra mile and Gabriela did that for us.

We recently worked with Gabriele to purchase a home in Park Slope. She was extremely professional, knowledgeable on the process and in particular the Park Slope area and was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend her
