Reproductive medicine/IVF doctor for woman over 40
I started seeing Dr. Grifo at NYU when I was 42 after 2 failed IVF attempts at a different fertility clinic. Dr. Grifo is a leading researcher and has his own personal experience with IVF so brings a lot of humility and compassion to the conversation. He's going to be direct that the odds are not great for women over 40, but you froze your eggs early, which seems like one of the most important steps. After 2 IVF cycles, my wife and I now have a happy and healthy 14 mo. old. I would recommend Dr. Grifo without reservationGetting pregnant mid 40s - possible?
I had 2 girls age 43 and 44 with Dr. Grifo as well after several unsuccessful cycles. I would recommend him.Getting pregnant mid 40s - possible?
Dr James Grifo at NYU is a quirky but brilliant doctor who will tell you like it is.Fertility clinic advice
As someone who was in the long haul of fertility treatments, in the end I didn’t feel like the primary doctor mattered as much. I saw Dr. Griffo at NYU who is was wonderful, however in retrospect I was being seen by all the doctors at NYU, whoever was there on that day. However it was several other doctors that I had to communicate and be seen by on some very difficult appointments. Even though Dr. Griffo oversaw my case. He has a long waiting list to get into, (kind of wish I hadn’t waited and consulted with a Dr at NYU sooner, I believe they all practice with the same protocols) in addition, setting up follow up appointments with him was so difficult, I had to set up a 2 to 3 hour blocks of time to be available to speak with him, and then the conversations where quick and felt rushed, which was not ideal for my day-to-day life/work schedule. What became very clear to me after years of fertility treatments is making sure the clinic you are at has a top-notch lab!ISO: Fertility doctor for recently diagnosed cancer patient

NYU has a great fertility clinic. We saw Dr. Grifo at the Fertility Center. He is very much in demand so contact them right away. They do genetic testing and have an excellent lab. My sister conceived both of her children with them.Review submitted via the 2016 Birth Survey
I underwent IVF at NYU. Dr. Berkeley was my main physician but Dr. Grifo did both parts of my procedure. Both were very experienced though I did not like Dr. Berkeley's bedside manner. Would highly recommend Dr. Grifo. Important to know that NYU has 3 months of down time when IVF not possible - April, August, and December. Member notes about insurance: Yes I was in network and even much of my IVF was covered. Based on a March 2016 birthing experienceRe: [ANONYMOUS] Advice re. low amh levels?
Dr. James Grifo, NYU, the best in areas like PGD and other research. Less nurturing and NYU is not a warm place, but might be worth a consultation for his medical expertise.[ANONYMOUS] Need fertility specialist for 2nd opinion
I used the Nyu infertility center run by dr Grigio. He's world renowned. They were great.Re: [ANONYMOUS] Need fertility specialist for 2nd opinion
I am so sorry for your losses. I had other reasons for seeking fertility help, but I wanted to put in a plug for NYU, in particular Dr. Licciardi, who I found smart, compassionate, and just wonderful all around, particularly with regard to balancing his expertise with my desire for treatment plans that acknowledged my autonomy. I loved him and all the nurses (and most of the doctors) and actually sort of miss seeing them (though I'm glad not to need to, if you follow me). I believe they do take Aetna. I second Dr Licciardi (Reviewed March 2015)Re: [ANONYMOUS] Need reproductive specialist
We also started our family late and had some additional complications. We were very fortunate to work with Dr. Jamie Grifo at NYU. We found him to be a straight-shooter (no beating around the bush) and incredibly compassionate at the same time. We've had 2 children with him - I honestly couldn't recommend him more highly.(no subject)
Dr. Grifo is great! I had two successful IVFs there. Couldn't be more pleased. I wish you the same experience. Good luck! September 2012(no subject)
I am now in the middle of my second pregnancy through the NYU fertility center. Dr. Jamie Grifo is my main doctor there, but I have had several procedures with Drs. Licciardi and Kump and had a good friend do IVF with Dr. Berkeley. They are all top notch. I always felt like I was getting the absolute best advice and care. That goes for the nurses too. One complaint I have heard from others but didn't bother me is that it's an impersonal place (someone said "assembly line" once). I didn't want handholding, I wanted results and they never did less than inspire total confidence so that was enough for me. All the best luck to you! September 2012(no subject)
We were very, very happy with NYU. I was a patient of Dr. Licciardi, but saw everyone there and liked them all. Licciardi, Grifo and Kump were probably my favorites, but they are all good. As you probably know, NYU and Cornell are the two best clinics in the area, and NYU is much smaller and more personal. The nurses are really nice too. I don't know anything about their urologist, sorry. Good luck, and if you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer them. September 2012(no subject)
We had a great experience at NYU overall, and especially loved our main doctor, Fred Licciardi. He really knows his stuff and is also patient, compassionate, and down-to-earth. He has a blog, which I think gives a good sense of his personality: http://infertilityblog.blogspot.com/ Ultimately, we conceived via IVF, which at NYU means seeing most of the doctors (they each have a day of the week they do procedure, so you see Dr. Tuesday if it happens to be Tuesday, etc.). I didn't much care for Grifo. Our friends love Noyes. There was no one so bad that I wouldn't go back. (unlike, say, at my OB office....) September 2012
