  • Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing Survey

What month and year was your child born? May 2022 Review: We loved working with Kim and Francie as a doula pair. Kim was our in person birth support and Francie provided lactation and virtual support. One thing that was unique was that their package included pre-natal, birth, and post-partum support for the first month after baby arrives. This was different than other doulas and it really came in handy. The pre-natal support was excellent, they really got to know us, go over our birth plan, help us work through techniques and prepare for breastfeeding and what to do and how to do it. They checked in frequently to see how the pregnancy was going, give tips and help calm us when weird but totally normal symptoms popped up. I went into labor on my due date, and it was progressing very rapidly - until it didn't - and they were there with me the whole time. Francie was on the phone and helping me ask for medication to address my nausea and vomiting, as well as working through the benefits/side effects of a stronger medication that ultimately helped those things. Kim arrived at the hospital and immediately helped me try to cope with the contractions and help me keep some food down. She helped me make a decision that an epidural would be helpful and worked with me to put me into various laboring positions and off my back. She supported me through five hours of pushing, and continued to advocate for me when I wanted to hold my son and the doctors were not listening. The biggest benefit was the continuous post-partum support. Kim works as a newborn care specialist as well as a doula, so her baby magic is pretty unrivaled. She comes for four postpartum sessions (more if a c-section happens) and helps with techniques to sooth the baby or just be a helping hand so you can shower or sleep. Francie is an excellent lactation support and worked with me to diagnose a tongue tie in my son, and get it addressed by Dr. Siegal, as well as working with me through weight gain issues due to that tie. My son is gaining weight appropriately now and enjoys both nursing and taking a bottle. Lastly, we had an unexpected emergency with him at 5 days and they were both there to help us process what was going on and advocate for us. It helped us to get through the hospital stay and back on the road to bonding with him. The level of support and knowledge that Francie and Kim bring is unrivaled and we couldn't imagine a better pair for when things go sideways. Even if it had been a picture perfect birth and first month, it is still hard and you need that support. Any advice for people who are considering using a birth doula? Don't hesitate to hire a doula. If you are thinking about a doula - do it. I can't imagine going through this process without one. Try to find a doula that does both prenatal and postpartum support. That way, you have a long relationship with them. I highly recommend Baby Caravan - that's where we found our doula team.
  • Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey

Francie does virtual-only consults and we worked with her for a month (her standard package). This meant we had an initial video call, unlimited 15 & 30 minute video calls throughout the month (as well as texts) and a wrap-up to assess progress and talk about going forward. She was warm, friendly, and immediately made me feel a sense of relief with her non-judgmental and supportive approach. After being in the NICU, my baby was having a hard time transitioning from bottle to breast. Francie helped us with that as well as transitioning off of nipple shields and off of triple feeding. For what we needed, the virtual approach worked--she felt in some ways like a "lactation therapist" to offer support and reassurance.

Very approachable, answers texts super quickly, super supportive. Gave me a breastfeeding hold tip that made it so i got rid of all of my nursing pillows. Would recommend!
  • Lactation Consultant Rec?

I worked with Francie Webb via my doula’s recommendation, and she was great. Very understanding and listens to your goals/needs. She was also super fast getting back to me when I’d text her at all hours of the day with questions.
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Francie did 2 virtual consults with us (she’s no longer in NYC) and was AMAZING. She helped us so much and was amazingly available through text for follow up. She is caring and kind and approaches lactation challenges with a warm and supportive mentality. She made me feel heard (unlike another consultant we used), listened carefully and successfully worked for us to get us on track on our breastfeeding journey. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend

I found Francie through Baby Caravan, and she was an amazing partner and support for both myself and my husband. Our meetings prior to the birth were super informational, and she suggested great resources and classes. Francie was an amazing advocate for me at the hospital, and knew when to intervene and how to best support when things didn't go according to plan, or when we needed to weigh our options. She was instrumental supporting me after delivery with first latch and navigating early hours of breastfeeding. I can't imagine my birthing experience without Francie's expertise and support throughout.
