Review submitted via the PSP Birth SurveyShe came to us- she was amazing!!!! I can't suggest her enough, kind and patient but also we didn't have to sit in a group/ class. It was personalized for us. I felt prepared!!! Based on aug birth experience
Review submitted via 2015 Birth SurveyType: Birth Class Review: It was a 4 hour class, so super fast and a lot of information. All the info was super helpful, as was taking an afternoon to take time and think about the birth with your partner. Sarah is great and hilarious, doing impressions of a labouring women and giving you a really full sense of what birth is like. It's a great class for anyone, someone doing a home birth, using a midwife or an obgyn. We loved everyone else in the class and the only downside was you didn't get time to know one another. Insurance: No Based on a July 2015 birth
Review submitted via 2015 Birth SurveyType: Birth class Review: Sarah came over with a fake pelvis and lots of hand outs. She was great, funny, helpful and real. Insurance: No. A little expensive. $500. Won't do it again. Based on a August 2015 birth
Based on a 2014 Birthing ExperienceMember Review: I didn't get a lot out of Sarah Moore's class. I took it early in my pregnancy because it was a class for single mothers-to-be, and I was interested in taking this type of class. It was more of a chat than a class, and I wanted it to be more structured. (Review submitted via the 2014 Birthing Survey) Insurance details: No
Based on a 2014 Birthing ExperienceMember Review: The class was an afternoon, which was the perfect amount of time. There were five couples, and we all had some pre-existing knowledge, so the course was about filling in any gaps and reminding us of the important issues we want to research more. We also did a breathing exercise which taught me a little about how helpful (ahem unhelpful!) my husband might be during labor. And that breastfeeding video and demo we had stuck with me which has contributed to my success. Insurance details: I submitted the childbirth class for reimbursement by my HSA. Based on a 2014 Birthing ExperienceWeekend Intensive (she now only offers one day intensives) Member Review: My husband and I both learned a lot and really appreciated Sara's approach to the whole subject, as well as her style and sense of humor. It was definitely the perfect balance of information, perspective and levity for us. She's not militant about anything, but provides a broad overview of the variety of circumstances one may face and what choices you would want to have thought about in that event. Recommend, particularly if you lean toward a natural/non-interventionist approach to childbirth, but are fairly pragmatic and not too precious about the whole thing. (no subject)We actually got a lot out of Sarah Moore's Fig Tree classes - we found her listed on PSP! Classes were informal, small, informative - and maybe we got lucky but we really liked the other couples too. http://www.figtreechildbirth.com/services.html I think she's willing to do private courses also. August 2012
(no subject)We second the rec for Sarah Moore! We did a weekend intensive before our son was born last Nov and it was great. August 2012
(no subject)We met with Sarah privately at our hour, last minute. She was amazing. We really learned a lot and loved her demeanor. I highly recommend using Fig Tree. (May 2012)
(no subject)We had the BEST experience with Sarah Moore with Fig Tree childbirth. We did the weekend class and met some great people, had ALL our questions answered, learned some amazing pain relief techniques and left feeling so ready to have our baby. Highly recommend. (March 2012)
Birth Survey 2012Review Date: April 2012 REVIEW: If you are pregnant TAKE THIS CLASS..Even if you have no desire to have a natural birth - TAKE THIS CLASS. Out of the 6 couples there with us, we each had a different idea of what we wanted our birth to be like, which was wonderful. The weekend extensive was incredible. My husband and I left with so much knowledge and just pure excitement for our upcoming birth. You will meet some great parent-to-be and you are welcome to ask every question, even the craziest silly concerns you may have. Its such a warm and inviting class and I absolutely credit Sarah for helping me understand my labor which really allowed me to give birth naturally. INSURANCE ISSUES: no
Birth Survey 2012Review Date: April 2012 REVIEW: Sarah Moore facilitated an excellent weekend workshop which went over the basics of birth and labor, caring for a newborn, easing pain and relaxation during labor, generally what to expect. She presented information in a balanced and non judgmental manner and helped to encourage dialogue among couples and between partners. I would highly recommend and if I used a doula in the future, would love to have her calm personality nearby. INSURANCE ISSUES:
Birth Survey 2012Review Date: April 2012 REVIEW: Sarah was great. The first day of the class focused on what a "typical" 24-hour labor and birth experience might be like without any interventions, and the second day outlined possible interventions and what to expect/ask/how to avoid, etc. As someone who hoped for as natural a birth as possible and then (despite everyone's best effort to avoid) ended up with basically every possible intervention, I was very thankful for the structure of her class. I truly think the way she outlined things was the only reason my partner and I didn't flip out over having to make decisions about interventions and deal with less-than-ideal situations. She also covered natural pain-releaf techniques (if you've read The Birth Partner a lot were from there), and basic baby care (we practiced diapering and swaddling, etc). The class was pretty interactive and she also has a good sense of humor. I liked her, and the way she presented information, a lot. INSURANCE ISSUES: Did not try to use insurance
Birth Survey 2012Review Date: April 2012 REVIEW: We found Sarah Moore and the class through PSP, and honestly, we were thrilled. We learned a lot, the environment is both intimate and informative - the right mix of serious info and fun, pre and post-baby lessons. We've even kept in touch with the other parents in our 'class', and my husband even enjoyed it (we've heard that's a rarity!) INSURANCE ISSUES:
Birth Survey 2012Review Date: April 2012 REVIEW: We used Sarah for our childbirth education class, as a labor doula and for some post-partum help. And she was amazing! Sarah is patient and really took the time to get to know my husband and me in advance of our labor. She prepared us well for labor and delivery and was incredible at the birth of our son. She was open to the experience I wanted and helped to make sure that was what happened. She gave us a number of hours of post-partum help as well and her advice and support was invaluable. INSURANCE ISSUES: We did not use insurance for our doula expenses.
Birth Survey 2012Review Date: April 2012 REVIEW: We loved Sarah. She has the most reassuring, calm and sweet temper ever. As a mother of two, she is down to earth, knowledgeable yet not condescending. I had a really long labor, starting in earnest on Sunday eve, and my son was born after midnight on Tue. I can say without hesitation that I was able to labor at home an additional 6 hours before going to the hospital because of Sarah. We spoke on the phone several times, and she came to see us when my husband and I had run out of options. I was ready to get on a cab yet was nowhere near 5 cm dilated. Sarah really got me back on track. She arrived with this "McGyver" bag of tricks. Once we finally made it to the hospital, the resident who checked me out said I was "perfect" for admission. Sarah was there for me, standing by my side as I made the right decision for me in terms of whether to use an epidural but NEVER deciding for me. When I was pushing, the nurse gave me some instructions, and Sarah phrased them a bit differently without interfering with the medical professionals. I listened to Sarah, and my son was out in about 45 min. Once my son was born, a bunch of doctors came in to look at him--he was born with a facial palsy--and everyone got distracted with it, my husband included. Sarah stayed by my bedside, looking at me in the eye and telling me "everything is going to be OK." That meant the world to me. She came to see us a few times after the baby was born, helping me improve his latch, caring for him while I took a break, and just being a friend. I highly, highly recommend her.
