  • Daycare recommendation in South Slope

I would like to highly recommend Elaine Ramirez for daycare. She is located in South Slope on Prospect Ave between 7th ave and 8th ave rate is $12/hour for full time. Our daughter (2.5) has been going there for a year and a half, we are moving to NJ, so we need to switch daycares. Elaine runs a daycare out of her home and she is fantastic. Our daughter has learned so much from Elaine (the ABCs, parts of the body, numbers, animals, days of the week, colors) and she loves going to her daycare. There are a couple other kids at daycare, but they don't go every day so our daughter gets a ton of 1:1 time with Elaine. She also offers a flexible schedule, which is great if your work schedule changes. Elaine has 35 years experience working with children of all ages and has provided such great support to our family.

Elaine Ramirez (home daycare) Program: Length of time: Full Child’s Age: < 1 year1-2 years2-3 years Type of facility: Private, small daycare/playschool experience run out of a person's home with a very small number of children REVIEW: we take our son to Elaine Ramirez and I really feel so lucky to have found her- she lives in Windsor Terrace and is fine with flexible hours. She runs a daycare from her home and usually only has 2-3 kids there so it is more like a nanny share. I love her- she has such a clear love of children and a warmth that put me immediately at ease. Would you recommend? Highly recommend Would you send your child again? Absolutely

My now 13 months little girl has been going to Elaine since she was 6 months. She loves it and I couldn't be happier. Elaine is warm, loving, energetic, and lots of fun. She truly loves the little ones she cares for and all of them have been going to her since infants so it's very sweet to see them growing together. They all adore her. I also like that there are 6 kids at the most at any given time so they get lot of individual attention while socializing with other children. A big big plus for me, as a freelance, is that Elaine understands how unpredictable my schedule can be and she is always willing to help me out taking in my girl on a day she is not scheduled or keeping her longer if I am late. My son started going to Elaine when he was 7 months old. At the time he had hardly ever been cared for by anyone but me. Within weeks he was so happy at Elaine's that he would leap out of my arms when we got to her house! He is now 20 months old and absolutely loves it there. Elaine's family all know my son - her two daughters have even babysat for us at home, which is wonderful since my son already knows them and feels perfectly comfortable with them. He sleeps better and eats better for Elaine than he does here at home with me! Because Elaine runs the daycare from her home she is very flexible on days and hours. If one of my son's daycare days falls on a paid holiday she lets me switch him to another day that week. She's taken him for last-minute emergencies, like when I've been sick. My son loves going to her so much that we're all going to be very heartbroken when it's time for him to leave her to go to preschool some day. In the meantime, she is, as my husband says, a "real find" in the neighborhood and I cannot recommend her highly enough. (june 2010)
