- ISO recommendations for Early Intervention PTWe had a very positive experience with Early Sprouts. They’re contracted through the city so the evaluation was free. They dealt with the bureaucracy and had the evaluation team come within about two weeks. They came to our house in Windsor Terrace and were thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. In the end, our daughter didn’t qualify for PT, so I can’t speak to that.

- ISO: Early Intervention (IEP) Agency RecsWe had a great experience with Early Sprouts.
- Challenge Early Intervention?Hi- we are in early intervention now with my 17 month old daughter and I am so greatful for this program. We are working with early sprouts and they are wonderful.
- Challenge Early Intervention?Parents can self refer to any early intervention program of their choosing. If you feel more comfortable using Early Sprouts, you can call and request a physical therapy evaluation for your child. Both providers are great. Challenge is based a little deeper in Brooklyn and offers a lot of services for children, and has wonderful facilities if needed. https://www.challenge-ei.com/ Early Sprouts is a slightly smaller company used by a lot of local parents. https://earlysprouts.com/ Both choices are good and should help walk you through the process.
- Early Intervention Program RecommendationsWe contacted Early Sprouts on the advice of our pediatrician and they sent two great evaluators. Good luck and I hope you get to take your baby home very soon.
- Early Intervention Program RecommendationsMy daughter was evaluated by Early Sprouts and we really liked everyone who we met from there. The neonatal follow up program referred us there. But when it comes to finding actual providers to do the on-going therapy with your child you don’t have much say in which agency you work with. The providers call you to see if their schedule works with yours but you have zero information about the agency or therapist ahead of time. It’s a strange process. Happy to discuss more.
- Early Intervention Program RecommendationsWe used early sprouts upon recommendation of our pediatrician. However most of our contact has been with Theracare, which I believe is the state agency that administers the EI program. The whole thing confuses me! I’m not sure what early sprouts does and what theracare does. it took about 3 months from our referral to early sprouts before we got therapists to work with our son, which was frustrating. But, we are very happy with the quality of our providers and my son is improving.
- Early Intervention Program RecommendationsWe also used Early Sprouts at the recommendation of our pediatrician. You can request any agency to do the evaluation for your child. Early sprouts has a great reputation for doing careful, thoughtful evaluations. You can call them directly and Allison will help you to navigate the whole process. Our daughter received Speech/ Feeding, OT, and PT services through them. Once the evaluation is complete, it moves to a supervising agency such as theracare who will assign you a case manager. They will meet with you and a representative from the state to review the results from the evaluation and create an intervention plan (called an IFSP) After that you need to find therapists, which can take a while. If early sprouts has someone available they can help you, or they will help you to connect with another provider. If that doesn't work, your EI case manager at Theracare (or wherever) is responsible for helping to locate a therapist. We definitely had to call around a bit to find therapists that would come to us or were willing to go into our daughter’s daycare. The case manager basically is there as a liaison between the therapists and families. They check in every month to make sure that all the therapists and coming regularly and that you are happy with the services. If you aren’t, they are supposed to help you find new ones. Every year they update the IFSP to make sure your child is still eligible for services. Later on when your child turns 3, they will also help you to move to over to the NYC DOE which provides services from age 3-5. We are so grateful for all of the wonderful help we’ve had. Our daughter is doing really well. It’s a tricky, bureaucratic system, but its so valuable.
