  • ISO Advice for IVF clinics with great patient centered care

I have experience with both SHER and New Hope. New Hope has the advantage of being founded and run by Dr. Zhang who conducts research so he is on the cutting edge of fertility science; most fertility doctors don’t do research and just read medical journals to keep up to date on recent advances. But New Hope is still a factory. SHER is much smaller and more of a boutique experience. Dr. Tortoriello is a sweet heart with a great bedside manner.
  • IVF in 40s, donor eggs etc

I can second Rose’s recommendation. I had frozen eggs with Dr. Tortoriello at 39 and we just had our second child at 44. He was realistic with me but knew what my body needed to conceive each time.
  • IVF in 40s, donor eggs etc

I can not speak more highly for the third doctor that helped me conceive my son at 40 (I started the IVF journey at 38). My first doctor (Cornell) used the "blast her with all you got method"- It sucked. After that failed and frustrating experience, I went to a clinic that specializes in low stim (low hormone) injections. Lots of monitoring with lots of visits, but less drugs. What I also liked about Dr. Tortoriello is that he didn't poo-poo acupuncture. Many of the "western medicine IVF" doctors do. My recommendations: Dr. Drew Tortoriello Sher Fertility Midtown https://nycfertilitycenter.com
  • Fertility Clinics or Specialist recomendations?

I can recommend Dr. Tortoriello at Sher Fertility. He was great at managing expectations and talking through an appropriate plan.
  • Excellent doctor

If you are dealing with IF schedule a consult with Dr. T. You will be happy you did. After six years of dealing with, seemingly intractable, infertility and going to five of the most reputable clinics on both the east coast and west coasts, I am now 4 months pregnant. Dr. Tortoriello is aces! The RE before him was recommending surrogacy or adoption. I had the sinking sense that he was just trying to get rid of me because I had a complicated fertility profile and he didn't want to mess up his excellent success rates. He was resisting doing an embryo transfer even though we had frozen embryos. When I went to see Dr Tortoriello I immediately felt that I could trust him. His exact words 'You deserve at least one transfer if not more before going to surrogacy'. I got pregnant on my first FET with him. He is one of the most balanced, caring and intelligent doctors I have ever had. You really feel like he is plugged into your case. He remembers your info when you have an appt with him. He answers emails. You know that feeling, when you are sitting across from a doctor and he is giving you these canned answers, like he is reading from a script or has said this to so many people that he is bored of hearing it himself? Dr. T is the exact opposite of that. He is a real person. He doesn't make huge promises (read: sales pitches) but he is more focused on his patients and designing custom protocols for them than any of the other seven doctors I have seen at those five top facilities. This is the most responsive and caring group of medical professionals I have EVER experienced. When you get off the elevator the receptionists greet you by your first name (the opposite of making you feel like a number, which I felt so many times at other facilities). Over the last six years I have met a lot of women struggling with IF. I have only ever heard them say good things about this facility and Dr. T. Some women gush about him. I am eternally grateful to him, not just for getting me pregnant, but for creating an atmosphere in which I could relax and trust which I believe helped me be successful.

I highly recommend Dr. Drew Tortoriello at Manhattan Fertility Clinic on Fifth Ave & 38th St.(646) 792-7476. They did advanced genetic screening to avoid miscarriage, didn't pressure us to implant more than one embryo (we didn't want twins), and were on time and professional with appointments which were made to suit our schedules. The practice is a small well-run ship which made a huge difference in the process and ultimate success. They are not touchy-feely and IVF is a tough process under the best of circumstances but they are good and specialized and individualized. August 2012

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Drew Tortoriello at the Sher Institute: http://haveababy.com/ Not only is Dr. T methodical and accessible, but he's also a warm and understanding person. I was so impressed with his office staff, as well. They're fun and energetic...they truly make a tough experience MUCH easier. I was pregnant after one cycle of IVF. August 2012

I wound up working with at Sher was Dr Drew Tortoriello. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him. The whole process of IVF is so scary for a newcomer not knowing what to expect. He's so calming and patient. Was always available to answer questions through email...usually very quickly. He's just a marvelous doctor with a wonderful bedside manner. My only complaint is that you really have no control over when they schedule you during the whole cycle....I'm talking about the dr's visits and such that happen throughout the cycle. The way they schedule appointments is after their office hours, and they just go through the list of patients and assign them a time and then call you and let you know when you're scheduled. So you really have to be able to keep your schedule open and flexible. (Recommended March 2010)
