- Dr. Sara’s House CallsHighly recommend Dr. Sara for everyone, and especially folks looking for the convenience of an home visit or with toddlers who are wary of the doctor’s office / dentist office! We had our first pediatric dental appointment with Dr. Sara for our two year old who is very afraid of the doctor’s office and it went great! She comes directly to your home and brings puppets and fun models to demonstrate and show your child every step of the cleaning. She also brings everything a dentist uses in an office environment for a cleaning and, from my understanding, if more equipment is necessary, she has access to a dental office where she would schedule a second part of the appointment. She put my partner, our son, and me at total ease and made our little guy’s first dentist appointment a positive one! She does not accept insurance but our insurance at least is completely reimbursing us. Highly recommend!
- pediatric dentist?I may have the only nervous kid who hated Bitesize (she panicked, threw up on everyone in the room and the dentist couldn’t even get her mouth open!) but we had a great experience after that with Dr. Sara Fikree, a Park Slope dentist and mom who makes house calls locally on her bike. She brought all sorts of puppets and educational toys to make my daughter feel comfortable. She doesn’t take insurance but if you have a super skittish kid who feels safer in their own space, she is fantastic for a check-up.
- Dr. Sara's House CallsWe had a great experience with Dr. Sara - a common sense approach to pediatric dentistry combined with warmth, love, puppets and house calls! Because our 24-month-old watched Dr. Sara's videos first (she watched them like a million times), she was excited to meet the dentist. The cleaning took place on my lap at our kitchen table. Our daughter cried during the cleaning, but quickly recovered and without any prompting from us, she gave Dr. Sara a big hug afterwards. I could tell that while our daughter wasn't thrilled about dental work, she totally trusted Dr. Sara. It was our daughter's first dental visit. I should add that we don't have dental insurance for our daughter, so no matter where we went, we'd have had to pay out-of-pocket. I thought what Dr. Sara charged was very reasonable - and worth it. Even though we will be able to put our daughter on insurance in the fall, we will probably keep seeing Dr. Sara for at least a year. I just can't imagine taking this tiny human to a big dental office. She's not ready and since Dr. Sara makes house calls, she doesn't have to be!
- Dr. Sara's House CallsI can highly recommend Dr. Sara's house call service, especially if your child is anxious about going to the dentist. It was my daughter's first dental visit, and I was apprehensive that she would not co-operate. Dr. Sara was gentle and friendly and my shy daughter warmed up to her quickly. Not only did my daughter surprise me by allowing everything to be done, but she ran into her room and came back with her Doll so Dr. Sara could clean and check her Doll's teeth too! I was extremely pleased with this highly personal experience -- Dr. Sara took plenty of time to answer all my questions, shared some great advice, and followed up with a thorough email about all her findings. It was not the typical experience where the health care professional just spends a cursory 5 minutes and then moves on to the next. Dr. Sara doesn't accept insurance, but her fees seem reasonable - they are about what I would pay at a dental office.
