- Review from the 2025 Birthing SurveyMy partner and I expected to interview several doulas; we stopped after meeting Kerri. We might not have known exactly what we were looking for before we spoke with her, but once we met her, we knew we were going to have this baby with Kerri! She immediately made us feel more confident, more relaxed, and more excited about giving birth. In that initial conversation, we laughed in surprise and relief at how Kerri so comfortably named the things that make a doula-parent relationship special. I remember she said "some people want a soccer coach vibe, some people want a gentler approach". (I wanted a soccer coach.) Kerri is a phenomenal people-reader, and she will meet you with the energy, the language, and the encouragement that you respond to best. On the day I went into labor, when Kerri arrived at our door, we could not have felt luckier. She had already talked me through about 10 days of trying to get my breech baby to flip and then about 10 hours of laboring at home with pretty rough hip pain. She walked in the door and took charge with the gentlest, strongest manner. She filled us in on everything that was happening around us at the hospital, kept me company while my husband slept (!), and made the whole experience seem easier than it was. I recommend her with all my heart.
- Review from the 2025 Birthing SurveyKerri is incredible. She is straightforward and down to earth but also incredibly genuine and caring. She was my advocate every step of the way and without her I don't think I would have successfully had a vaginal birth. She helped me push in lots of different positions, set up essential oils in the room, and prepared me for every step. She also really supported my husband in being there for me. Before birth she contacted me regularly to make sure I was treating my body well and prepping it for birth and she was there for me as soon as my water broke. I highly recommend her!
- Review from the 2024 Birthing SurveyAMAZING!!! Helped with EVERYTHING! Eased our worries, taught us everything and helped immensely in the hospital. We would have been LOST without her.
- Review from the Spring 2023 Birthing SurveyWhat month and year was your child born? January 2023 Review: Kerri is incredible. She is a champion for her clients. She is thoughtful, thorough, empathic, and attuned. We worked with her and delivered at Brooklyn Methodist, where she runs the doula program. She knows everything about L&D at Methodist! She is an expert doula. I am struggling to find the words to describe how much I love Kerri Evers. Just hire her. Everything will be better because she's there. Any advice for people who are considering using a birth doula? Hiring a doula seems "extra" because it can be thousands of dollars when they don't "do" anything medical. However, you only have a few births (for me, only one birth) in your life, and birth is one of the most painful and challenging things you will ever do. A doula will make it better. It will make you less likely to have a c-section or unwanted medical interventions. It will make your partner feel less pressure to do it all. We live mostly paycheck to paycheck so this was a splurge, but I feel like this was the best money we've spent so far on the baby.
- Kerri Evers-DoulaKerri was recommended to us by our midwife practice (also highly recommend Park Slope Midwives!). She has over 20 years of experience as a doula and is a mother to two school age children. Kerri can be hired independently but also contracts with Brooklyn Methodist, where I gave birth. This was wonderful because she has such a great rapport with the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital. I gave birth in the fall, so I interviewed Kerri in the spring (via Zoom), and immediately knew she would be a good fit. She has a great sense of humor which made it easy for my husband to build a relationship with her. Kerri also uses lots of natural techniques but she is also very grounded and relatable. We texted quite a lot over the spring and summer. I filled her in on my appointments and any concerns I had. She was quick to respond to texts and stayed in touch through out the pregnancy. We finally got together in person in the late summer, and we went over what our goals were with the birth. She had lots of good ideas and advice to help support my needs. Finally, when I went into labor, she was a calming source for both me and my husband. She arrived at our apartment when I was transitioning into active labor, and helped to provide different position techniques to help me feel most comfortable while also allowing me to progress. She went in the Uber with us to the hospital, and then got to work talking to all of the hospital staff, so that I could just focus on my contractions. During my labor she fanned me off, suggested different positions, and communicated with the hospital staff. This was SO HELPFUL! She advocated for me so that I could just let my body do what it needed to do and drown out the noise. Because of this, I had an excellent labor and delivery. I quickly progressed and was able to have an unmedicated delivery. Kerri stayed with us until we transitioned up to the Baby and Parent floor, and then once we were comfortable, she left. She continued to stay in touch via phone and text over the next few weeks. We are so grateful for her!!
- Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing SurveyKerri was great; she was, as she said my "pregnancy Google" which helped avoid some online spiraling! She was warm and very funny and super experienced--knows everything and everyone at the various hospitals. I particularly appreciated the pre- and post-partum home visits. The visit at 37 weeks helped me feel prepared for birth even more so than my childbirth class, as we actually practiced labor support techniques, positions, pushing positions, and hand expression. It was special and made me feel confident. In our post partum visit, she helped with lactation issues and eventually referred us to a lactation consultant. Connected me to other resources as well.
- Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing SurveyKerri Evers (On call Doula at Brooklyn Methodist) AMAZING!
- Nurturing doula who'll make you belly laugh in tough momentsI recently asked doula Kerri Evers if I could write her a letter of recommendation for something, and would like to share it with all of you because she was an absolute GIFT to my family and me during an incredibly long labor full of interventions, and I am grateful she can be with us for the upcoming delivery of our second child. No one makes me laugh quite like Kerri, and that distraction and release (even just on a call during pregnancy these days) is such a welcome respite. I would be so happy to have any questions you may have, and Kerri can be reached directly at 718-926-8015 or kerrieversdoula@gmail.com. She is super speedy on text. It is a privilege to write on behalf of the extraordinary Kerri Evers. I cannot imagine what my ~30-hour labor might have been like without her by my side. My first step in identifying “the right” doula for our family was asking the Park Slope Midwives, whom I trust implicitly, for their recommendation. The unique enthusiasm about Kerri that I have now heard from multiple medical professionals speaks to the very uplifting and memorable impact Kerri has on everyone she meets. One of the things she does best is connect with individuals, and if there are five individuals in a room, Kerri will make five unique connections. She works tirelessly to be “the right” doula for anyone who needs her. For this, she has both a gift and honed skill. And perhaps most impressively, she makes it all look and feel effortless. Another gift to a laboring woman. I was induced at 41 weeks, with both my husband and mother in the delivery room, and Kerri didn’t waste a moment in bonding with an already exceptionally warm and cohesive nursing staff. She created a sense of team and comfort immediately with good humor, trust, and confidence among all of us. Many hours and interventions later, when I was presented with the option of an epidural, I knew it was the right decision. I was allowed one person in the room with me. An inherent people-pleaser, normally such a “choice” between the most important people in my life and risking disappointing anyone would have been too much pressure. But my confidence and trust in Kerri was unwavering, and I knew she was the person I needed for the procedure. She also created the kind of environment of trust and openness where I felt good expressing so directly. Years later, it remains perhaps my single proudest moment of explicitly stating my needs, and Kerri empowered me to do so. What’s more, so many hours into labor, with no more sleep than any of us, Kerri was still making all of us laugh and keep on, refreshing us along the way. Where she found the energy to keep infusing us with more, I’ll never know. She also empowered my husband and mother (such different personalities and roles) with great care and tact at every turn. Kerri is simply exceptional. Her disarming warmth and humor make her an incredible doula, and I am impressed with all the ways in which she goes out of her way to be accessible to families that would not readily seek or find access to doula services—let alone those of Kerri’s calibre. That innate sense of equity and warmth for everyone is something Kerri exudes unequivocally.
- Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey[Kerri is] wonderful! Caring, attentive, and upbeat. She couldn't attend our birth because of covid, but I would highly recommend working with her and would do so myself again.
