  • Review from the Fall 2022 After School Survey

Location: 630 Sackett St. Brooklyn, NY Name of the specific program, if applicable: How old was your child during the Fall 2022 semester? 5-6 What kind of program is it? Dance classes Review: Traditional dance classes - my daughter took ballet and hip hop. We loved the small class size and personal attention. The teachers are incredibly warm and supportive - it feels like a family. What skills did your child develop? Obviously she became a stronger dancer, but also confidence and presence. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I would stack the level 1 classes so she could take more than 1 in an afternoon. Also, it would be great if they had 321 pick up.
  • Dance classes for kids of all ages

Just wanted to give a shout-out to the Dance Studio of Park Slope. My kids, now 13 and almost 16, have taken dance classes there since they were toddlers, and it is an amazing place. They teach a bunch of different genres--ballet, tap, modern, hip hop, acro jazz, and musical theater, and the community they create is really special. It feels like a family. Before the pandemic, they were bursting with students. Post-pandemic (or post-height of the pandemic), enrollment is down, so classes are also on the smaller side. If you are looking for dance classes, please look at the Dance Studio--it is a Park Slope institution and is SUCH a great place:
  • Dance classes for a 2yo?

We went to Dance Studio of Park Slope they have classes on Wednesday and Saturday for that age group. Reasonably priced and my daughter liked Lauren, one of the teachers. A portion of a class involves waiting for a turn to do a few moves which could be hard for this age group, but also kind of teaches them a new skill. I liked them.
  • Ballet classes

We did the Little Movers class at Dance Studio of Park Slope last Sept-Dec. The class was okay. I think I had higher hopes of what the class would be like. Although I am not sure my expectations were reasonable given the age group. The class was split into two sections - the first being some movements like marching across the room and stretches. Then the last part was a little obstacle course with hoping from spot to spot and a balance beam. My daughter seemed to get bored of it. The people at the studio were very nice and helpful. You can’t bring strollers inside so make sure you have a lock. We ended up switching back to a gymnastics class which my daughter really enjoys.

  • ISO: dance classes for 3yr old

My 3 year old LOVES her ballet class at the Dance Studio of Park Slope. It’s our second year there and the teachers are fantastic.
  • Looking for a 3 year old Ballet Class?

My 2.5 year old and I absolutely love the Dance Studio of Park Slope. She's in a 2's class but I'm pretty sure they have a 3's class too. The owner of the studio has been there for about 30 years, she is lovely and so good with young children. It is a very special place and we will for sure continue taking class there in the future.

I second the recommendation for the Dance Studio of Park Slope! My daughter started when she was 2 and a few months and has been attending regularly for almost a year. She takes a toddlers class with "Miss Christine" who is absolutely lovely! Her coordination and confidence with dancing have shown dramatic improvement. They've also worked toward having the caregivers leave the room so it feels more like a drop-in class. I'm not sure we'll be able to continue after this session because of camp and school scheduling, but it has made a major impact on my daughter's life. More than any other class we've taken.

I take my daughter to Dance School of Park Slope. They have a great class for 18 months - 23 months on Wednesdays at 10:30 and we love it (The 2-3 year old class is at 11:30 on Wed)! My daughter has learned so much and so have the other little girls in the class. It's a small group (only 4 toddlers) so the children receive lots of individual attention. Plus, the director, Jennifer, is just wonderful! Here's a link to the schedule: http://thedancestudiops.com/published/childrens_program/dat/childrens_schedule_d ec2010.pdf

My daughter is really enjoying her ballet class with Jennifer at the Dance Studio of Park Slope.

Dance Studio of Park Slope! They are a neighborhood institution and still great - Jennifer is fantastic with young dancers, boys and girls. Theirs is a more traditional approach than Bax - they have a big recital each June - but my daughter loved it. Several kids I know of in the 'hood have caught the "bug" at Dance Studio and gone on from classes there to serious study in different styles of dance. (Recommended October, 2010).
