  Review: Crayon Power is Reggio-Emilia style and we're very happy with the focus on socio-emotional growth. All the teachers are wonderful and each has special skills that add to the program. None of the rooms are very large, so that can sometimes be tough for my introvert with a big personal bubble on colder and rainy days but I feel confident that the teachers are helping him navigate and learn from his big feelings and that he will be as prepared as can be when he heads off to pre-k next year. I love that they have two class guinea pig pets and that there are kids both younger and older than our 3 yr old so he has confidence and patience to lead the younger children while looking up to and learning from the older kids (the current age range is 2-4). He is so happy to be around other kids and often talks about how he loves his friends and teachers and they love him. We would definitely consider sending our 2nd baby here in the future! Amenities offered: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Families take turns providing lunch for all the kids What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I wish that it didn't follow the DOE schedule as it is not part of the DOE

  Crayon Power Playschool (ages 2-5), on Greenwood Avenue in Windsor Terrace, is a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool. This child led program is located in a house with a spacious backyard for outdoor play activities. Kristen, the program director, is accommodating and helps each family find the right schedule for your child. She’s offering a mini camp this week and in August. Our child (4 years old) has been attending this lovely preschool since last year and will be there next year.
