Review from the Fall 2024 Early Education Survey
Review: We've been so happy with our experience at CBE's ECC program at the Prospect Heights location. Our child has bene so happy there - eager to go every day and truly loves his teachers. The space has its own outdoor playground (used twice a day) and is directly across the street from the park, so the kids go on park excursions twice a week. Outdoor time and city exploration was high on my list, so we've been very happy with that aspect. The program strikes me as much more play-based than academic (also a plus in my book!)- we haven't seen a ton of focus on letters or numbers, but instead a lot of time for play on indoor and outdoor playground equipment, and weekly art, movement and music classes with the instructors from the Park Slope location. My only gripe is that for the tuition we pay, there's no food provided. I have to pack lunch plus four snacks, and the allergy restrictions are pretty limiting (I'm all for keeping kids safe though, of course!).; Amenities: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours; What would you change? Provide some kind of food or snack -
Review from the Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Afterschool Survey
REVIEW: We love CBE Kids Club! My son had a great time and got to try some different activities each semester. He did sports, little architects, coding, swim, and art. He liked the days where he didn't have an extra activity and just got to play, do legos, play boardgames or do art projects in his classroom. He also did a few of the mini camp days when he was out of school and that was great too and very convenient. Skills learned: What would you change? Age of child: 5 -
Review from the Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Afterschool Survey
REVIEW: CBE is awesome, they pick up from school and their staff and counselors are so warm and friendly. It is not structured, but I think that's great after a full day of school. The on-site enrichment classes are a huge benefit. Skills learned: n/a - he just enjoys himself. What would you change? better quality snacks Age of child: 6 -
Review from the Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Afterschool Survey
REVIEW: We have been very happy with the after school program at CBE. My first grader has been attending for the past 2 years with pick up from PS321. The staff has been very warm and attentive. They’ve been on top of things like forgotten swim clothes or lost items and they communicate with me whenever anything that I need to know about has come up. The program has a wide variety of extracurriculars that my son really enjoys. This has been a really wonderful part of his childhood spending his afternoons at CBE. Skills learned: Swimming, art, coding, chess. What would you change? Some of the extracurriculars are more expensive. Age of child: 6 -
Review from the Fall 2022 After School Survey
Location: CBE How old was your child during the Fall 2022 semester? 5 What kind of program is it? Tennis, gymnastics Review: He loved them both! Long walk tho from ps39 What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Gymnastics was disorganized and the Jewish calendar means you miss a lot more classes than with a secular bldg -
THANKS & SUMMARY Warm Water Swim Class for Fearful 4 y.o.
We did Imagine at CBE with wetsuits but I also ran into the same issue. The water at the eastern athletic facility by grand army plaza was much warmer (and cleaner!) but was too far away for us. -
Re: Baby & me swim classes
I took my 8 mo old daughter to the parent and child swim class at Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE). It was fabulous! The water was warm (I understood they warmed the water the day before, specifically for the tykes), the activities and songs are fun, and there was a 'free swim' period at the end of each class, for those kids who loved being in the pool and wanted to do some extra splashing. The attendants are very attentive - I always felt everyone in the pool was well monitored, and in good hands. I've taken a parent and kiddo swim class elsewhere where that was not the case, so an alert lifeguard is something I'm sensitive about. In short - I have no affiliation with CBE but have only good things to say about the kiddie swim class at CBE. Oh - and the change room floors are heated - luxury!
