2018 Review
If you use a Coinstar machine (at least the one at the 5th Ave Key Food store) and choose to receive a gift certificate to a store instead of cash, they do not charge the commission. There are a variety of options for the stores you can choose from, including Amazon.com and I believe Barnes & Noble. I have not had to question the accuracy because it is a pretty similar amount from one visit to another with coins from the same container. One day the machine was unable to print the certificate so it gave me a cash voucher without charging the commission instead.2018 Review
“the Coinstar machine at the KeyFood (and all machines I suppose) can fill up! I once lugged a huge bag of coins there only to find that the machine was full and wouldn't be operational until the next day when it was scheduled to be emptied. I'd give a call first. :)”
