Getting Kids’ Ears Pierced
My 4 year old daughter went to Claire’s and it was great. They also gave us a solution to use for cleaning. My one recommendation is have them do both ears at the same time. She would have never gotten the second one done if they did them one at a time. Claire’s was happy to accommodate on this request.Where to get ears pierced?
We just went to Claire's in downtown Brooklyn. It was cheap and worked out fine for our daughter. They do use piercing guns.Re: Infant Ear Piercing - Jewelry Store Recommendations & After-Care Advice
I researched extensively for my 6 and 10-year-old daughters. I really wanted to take them to an old-school piercing parlor/tattoo shop. Main reason was I wanted their ears pierced with a needle rather than a gun because it causes less trauma and scar tissue and has been known to heal better. In the end I went to Claire's on Fulton Street. The price differential was just too high for the two kids. Claire's cost about 40 bucks per kid total. Fast-forward two months: my kids ears have healed perfectly. Claire's gives you a bottle of cleaner that you use twice a day.Ear piercing
My 7yo had her ears pierced at Claire's in Paramus Park, NJ (my mom lives nearby) a few months ago, and it was a fantastic experience. The girl who did it had it down to a science, my dd didn't even flinch from the gun, and when it was over she walked away with a great photo! No infections, no pain, it was great! On the flip side, the daughter of friend of ours got a major infection after having it done at a pricey piecing place in the neighborhood. I doubt it was their fault (she seems prone to the infections) but the point is it's no guarantee. She ended up going to Claire's after all and it went well. Another friend's child also went to Claire's (in Staten Island, I think) and it was also a great experience.Ear piercing
Thank you lovely people for responding to my request for where to take my daughter to get her ears pierced. Based on one of the recs, we decided to go to Claire's at the nearby Fulton Mall (bonus for parents: there's a Banana Republic Factory Outlet!). At Claire's, my daughter hummed along to a Katy Perry song while waiting her turn. I liked how Claire’s had two staff members do the piercings simultaneously, while a third cheered my daughter on. There were stickers, high fives, and an after care kit to take home. The piercing was free with the cost of earrings – our total was under $30. It was a sweet experience – for both of us
