  • Review from the 2023 Summer Camp Survey

Location: Park slope How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 6 y/o Review: This camp was amazing for my son! It's not a full day, but it's a nice chance to break up the hot summer days indoors. A great way to get his imagination engaged. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. When they found out it was my son's birthday they asked if they could buy cupcakes to help him celebrate. My son begged to go back and will ask to cross the street every time we walk near it, so that he can peer in the windows and wave.
  • Review from the 2022 Summer Camp Survey

Location: 169 5th Ave How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 5 Review: My son absolutely loved camp at Chess at three. He loved the small group learning and creative thinking/story-based play. The club director and the team of tutors were incredible and we had such a great experience. Will definitely do it again next summer and will be doing sessions during the year as well! What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? It's only a half day from 9:30-12:30 and lunch is after camp, so it's a little tricky if you need more childcare coverage. Perfect if you are looking for something supplemental for a few hours a day! Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? Camp had great, clear covid policy.
  • Shout out to Chess at Three!

I want to second this recommendation. Our 9 year old daughter had a private teacher from Chess at Three for a couple months. She loved it!
  • Shout out to Chess at Three!

My son started taking chess classes at Chess at Three over the summer and absolutely adores it. They are newly opened on 5th Ave and Berkeley and have a unique approach to Chess through storytelling. After a few weeks, he knows all of the pieces, how they move, and can even play a basic game. Their club manager Jen and tutors are all incredibly warm and welcoming and we are so thrilled to have found them! We’re continuing in after school classes through the fall.
  • Review from the 2022 Summer Camp Survey

Location: Park slope 5th Ave How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 6 Review: My son is an experienced chess player and loved this camp. They do a good job of teaching to the child’s level and keeping them engaged. While I know many parents need all day coverage, their morning only session worked well for us as did the small class sizes. My son gets overwhelmed with too many kids or if his days are too long and this was perfect. My son has some social emotional challenges and in a few moments when he got overwhelmed the club manager went out of her way to help him take a break and get comfortable with the group and project at hand. The space is bright and fresh and has great positive energy. They are a new business in park slope but in my opinion are a great addition to the community. I can’t say enough about what a great experience this camp was for us. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I wouldn’t change a thing. Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? Their policy made sense.
  • Chess Class for 7-Year-Old

We loved Chess at Three! Back when they would have tutors come to your home and do one-on-one chess with our son, they taught it through story telling and each piece as a separate character He loved it. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I thought it was worth it. We stopped when pandemic hit and now that he gets it in school, we decided not to continue.
