  • ISO: feedback on Chai Tots Summer Camp

Chai Tots is absolutely amazing. We've had at least one kid in their camp every summer since 2018. It's a warm, nurturing and fun environment. They have lots of outdoor splash time and play time plus lots of fun, indoor activities. My three kids who've gone there are all very different but are all happy to go there each morning and tired and happy at the end of each day. I wish I could send them there through high school! Happy to answer more questions!

Location: PPW & 3rd St How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 2.5 Review: Summer camp was a huge hit. The facilities are nice and roomy and there was an outdoor slide & sprinkler which was (thankfully) in the shade. Small classes with loving, energetic teachers and good communication with the staff. The program was unique each week and my son was happy and tired at the end of each day. Highlights included: going to the park for weekly soccer lessons, Around the World Art projects, visit from The Reptile Man (the kids went bonkers for the snake and turtle), ice cream truck day, cooling down with sprinklers, shabbat Fridays, dance & music class. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I have no complaints. Ok, one minor change might be the live goldfish each kid got at the end of the year. A cute idea but the poor fish came in a sealed jar with rocks that my son shook all the way home. I’m grateful the fish survived but then we had to find a lake for the fish, etc. Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? During the time we were there, the mask mandate had been lifted so it wasn’t an issue.

Age of child: 2 and 3 Summer 2018 Review: My son loves chai tots preschool and camp! Playtime in the classroom, kiddie pool and yard time, playground, soccer, yoga, arts and crafts etc.
  • Review from the 2017 PSP Summer Camp Survey

He loved everything I think. He had a great time w all the activities and even took fantastic naps there and used the potty! :) we love that they clearly have a great time there and are fantastic about taking lots of photos of the kids in action and sending home arts and crafts etc. If you could change anything, what would it be? Make it more weeks of the summer and flexible in terms of signing up for only part of the summer. Age of child: 2y4m Based on a Summer 2017 experience

Toddler Location - Park Slope How old is your child? (or the age when he/she attended camp) Age: - 2 What did you/your child like about the summer camp? Right across from Prospect Park, counselors are very sweet and loving, brought in lots of new and exciting activities for the campers following the theme of the week What would you change about the program? Most of the counselors seemed surprisingly inexperienced. While they meant well, their inexperience showed: the camp felt disorganized with childrens' things being misplaced, parent instructions not being followed, and no clear routine until the 2nd or 3rd week of camp. I did not feel confident when I left my child each morning, as I always do at Chai Tots during the school year. Will you send your child back to this summer camp program next year? (Or would you if you could?) No Would you recommend this program to other parents for their child in the future? Recommend with reservations

Age: - 4 What did you/your child like about the summer camp? My daughter loved everything about the camp. She could not wait to go and talked about it constantly. She loved the counselors, the classrooms, the play and water space outside, the cooking, the special activities and her first real introduction to Judiasm. She took away messages that we talk about about home to - do things to help others, donating money to help others. She also loved the Sabbath activities. She attends another preschool that she also loves but we wanted her to spend the summer with friends that go to Chai Tots preschool. I was so surprised about what an incredible experience it was. I also really enjoyed seeing the pictures each week that were posted. What would you change about the program? Nothing. Will you send your child back to this summer camp program next year? (Or would you if you could?) Yes Would you recommend this program to other parents for their child in the future? Highly recommend
  • Review from Summer Camps Survey, 2010

Age of Child: 5 Likes: Same warm, nurturing environment as the preschool. Each week is a different theme, and all the activities, trips, and summer fun giveaways tie back to the theme. What would you change? More time spent outdoors doing athletics and counselors who were a little more athletically motivated. Would you send your child(ren) again? No Do you recommend? Recommend Do you have any other information to add? This is a great little camp for preschoolers between the ages of 2 and 4, but by the age of 5, I felt my son had outgrown the program.

Age of Child: 3 Likes: Lots of activities, options for swimming in shade every day, many photographs, weekly special visitors/programs. What would you change? Toddler class was not particularly well-run although we had had a very positive experience during the school year. Likely due to oversubscription but still, child didn't love it. Would you send your child(ren) again? No Do you recommend? Recommend with reservations
