ISO evaluation for depression, anxiety and cutting in teenI'm so sorry you're facing this. I had a similar situation with my daughter when she was 14. She was always an anxious kid, but depression also kicked in and she began doing some cutting as well. We worked with a therapist whom I really credit with helping her move through that very dark period. It took a while, and I know her struggles will probably be life-long in some way, but the real crisis part of self-harm, etc. ceased. We did also work with a psychiatrist, whom I liked a lot, but my daughter didn't, and doesn't credit her with helping (though I know that's not all accurate). I'll share both referrals below, with extremely high praise for Dr. Evans. Best of strength to you as you get your daughter the help she needs. I'd take it as a good sign that she was honest with you about the cutting. Referrals: Dr. Lori Evans (affiliated with NYU but has an office also in Park Slope) Dr. Catherine Galanter (affiliated with Downstate but also has an office in BK Heights)
