Child therapist recommendation
My son is wrapping up therapy with Carrie Cohen, and I wanted to post a shout out for her here. I've shared her name with many friends over the years. She worked with my older son when he was 7-8 years old, and now had been working with my younger son who is the same age. She combines play and CBT-informed exercises, and makes each session fun so they're motivated to keep coming back. She really gets the idea of a "strengths-based" approach and has helped guide us there. My older child is passionate about board/ card games, and my younger one is more creative, for each, she tailored the sessions to their interests. She also often send us ideas and therapy content related to whatever topic they're captivated with at the moment. We regularly refer to the concepts the kids learned, and I'm happy they were able to build core emotional regulation skills through this work. She is very collaborative, and would often work with my husband and I on ideas for addressing specific issues, such as phobias. She also previously worked in a school and is also very knowledgeable about school supports and helping parents navigate the evaluation/ IEP process. We're grateful for Carrie and would highly recommend her to other families who are looking for 1:1 therapy for their kids.
