Review from the 2023 Summer Camp Survey
Location: Ottsville, PA How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 14 Review: This was my kids 2nd summer there and they absolutely LOVE it! It’s kind of old school, the kids sleep in large platform tents with about 6 to campers and two counselors in each. It’s quite remote and feels very far away even though it’s only about an hour and half from park slope. My kid never really tells what activities they do but I know that the campers help set up and clean up meals. There is a pool and a river. My happy camper comes home elated and chatty and eager to help out at home (much to my shock!). I highly recommend. And it’s on the less expensive side of sleepaway camp. Oh and my kiddo claims the food is really good!! And a huge plus is they have a very strict no technology rule!! They don’t really give much info to families while camp is in session but this is a plus to me as it adds to the old school feeling. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Not a thing! It’s a pretty magical place!! Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? Nope! All good in this categorysummary: one week long sleep away camps
You can look into Camp Onas - they have a one week session at the beginning of the summer. Very rustic, Quaker. My 11 and 8 year old love it.Review from the 2022 Summer Camp Survey
Location: Ottsville, PA How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 13 Review: This was my kids first time going to sleepaway. He LOVED it! The camp is pretty old school or some may say bare bones. It’s out in the countryside of upper bucks county PA so not that much of hike from Brooklyn. There is a strict no technology rule so it creates a major tech detox that I have to say was fantastic for my kiddo. He came home happier and bubblier then he has been in years. He made so many new friends that he has been in constant contact with since he got home. There’s swimming, zip lining, capture the flag, hiking and lots more. He’s ready to go back next summer! Oh and He said the food was good. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? They asked for kids to be cautious for the week leading up to arrival. And fully vaccinated kids take home tests the morning of arrival.Review from the 2022 Summer Camp Survey
Location: Pennsylvania How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 12 Review: My daughter hesitated about going to camp for years. She finally went and what a perfect camp it was. Small, loving, thoughtful, excellent quality food. But it is a small campus with a swimming pool. It really is for a particular type of child. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing. Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? They seemed to handle it well. No incidents afaikReview from the 2021 Summer Camp Survey
Name of camp: Camp Onas Location: Ottsville PA How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 12 Review: This is the 4th season that my twin boys have gone to Onas. It’s a 2 week sleep set camp. NO electronics of any sort. It’s a traditional camp in that it’s sorts/crafts/arts/outdoor activities/hiking with lots of choices every day. They slept in bunks of 8-10 (this year 6-8) with open sides unless it rains and then they Ripken down the tarps. Very rustic. My boys LOVE it. They have bonfires, color wars, and a dance. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? They were extremely stringent with many protocols to adhere to before being allowed to attend. It was NOT easy! It ended up being smart though because they got to stop wearing masks after about 5 days due to several rounds of testing. It was lovely!!Review from 2015 Summer Camp Survey
Age of Child: 12 Likes: My kids love this camp. It is a wonderful, low key Quaker camp with a variety of outdoor activities and really warm and lovely staff and counselors. No frills (sleep on tent platforms), outdoors all the time, no electronics (heck no electricity in the bunks). They like the level of trust given to them during free time (at another camp they attended this summer they felt they were constantly supervised like inmates). Boys who love Magic, will love it there. What would you change? Nothing Would you send your child(ren) again? Yes Do you recommend? Highly recommend Do you have any other information to add? This camp is not for everyone. For example, super sporty kids may not like it. Kids who are uncomfortable with insects may not like the sleeping on tent platforms. Some kids may not like the quiet time.Review from 2015 Summer Camp Survey

Age of Child: 11 Likes: Everything! It was active, warm, organized. It was his first sleepaway experience, and he came away feeling confident and making new friends. What would you change? Maybe a brief communication at the very beginning to let parents know how their child is doing. Would you send your child(ren) again? Yes Do you recommend? Highly recommend Do you have any other information to add? The camp was recommended to us by numerous people, including our pediatrician and friends (who have a special needs child and he too had a terrific experience though it's not specifically geared to special needs kids). Can't say enough positives about it
