o, this is a long way but my 17 and 20 yr olds used to go to a camp in Canada called Camp Kandalore. At 16, there is an Explorer trip that my eldest went on in which they go on a month long canoe trip in Northern Ontario. It is very remote, and really beautiful. It is really a once in a lifetime type of experience. My daughter went on the Attawapiskat River which is about 6 hours north of Toronto, and they carry what they need for the month, canoe on white water, the only way to reach them is via satelitte phone and they cook all their own food. There are no roads to Attawapiskat in the summer months, and they have to fly out to get back to a train and then travel back to the camp which is near Minden Ontario. There are other options for older campers who don't want quite such an intense experience and they do have campers come from around the world. my son went to the camp when he was 15 for the last time, and he went on a week long white water canoe trip. The camp picks up campers from Pearson Airport, or campers can take a bus from a college parking lot in Toronto.
