Re: Sleepaway camps
Our 12 year old loves Camp Hazen in Chester, CT. It is a Y camp with a lot of activities and is inclusive and wonderful. I worked at Y camps all through my teen years and the vibes are the same - fun, funny, a little silly, very community oriented, lots of singing but also time to read a book or play a D&D game with your bunk mates. Our kid and their camp friends plan their whole summer around Hazen and stay in touch all year. They have a lake, really cute cabins and a ton of space. It is about 2 hours from here. Also just a plea for kids with gender expressive kids - Session D at Camp Hazen has a gender inclusive cabin and it is a wonderful group of kids but they can't expand without more families signing up. The camp directors are so proud of the group they put together and the pride and support really shows.
