  • 2019-2020 Year Review

My son loves this program. It is a small, 5 children max, group run by a child development masters level professional. My son thrived there and made huge leaps in his development. He started right before he turned 2 and is still there at 3.5. I recommend this program to anyone that would like to ease their child into a classroom environment. Reva, the head teacher, is so caring, direct and helpful.
  • Programs to transition a toddler into classroom setting?

I can’t recommend Reva Grossberg and her toddler separation transition program Building Blocks Brooklyn more highly. You can find details on their Facebook page. Though located in Kensington, it’s very close to the F/G and therefore easily accessed from the neighborhoods you mentioned. My son grew soooo much in this program this year and we feel much more confident in his transition to regular preschool next month than we would have. Definitely consider it! The commute was worth it for us (and always enjoyable for our transit loving now 3 yo.) (August 2019)
  • Shout Out for an Amazing 2s and 3s Program: Building Blocks Brooklyn

I'd like to recommend my son's wonderful preschool, Building Blocks Brooklyn, located off Church Ave in Kensington. BBBK is a small drop-off toddler separation class on Tues, Weds, and Thurs mornings from 9-12, run by Reva Grossberg, a licensed speech and language therapist and experienced preschool teacher. After our son had difficulty adjusting to a school routine in his first 2s program last fall, we were lucky enough to learn about BBBK from another neighborhood mom. He started in January and he has thrived, right from the beginning. With Reva's gentle and consistent guidance, he quickly began to enjoy sitting for story time, eating snack at a table with friends, and engaging in creative art projects, dance and singing. Reva and her classroom assistant are incredibly attuned to each child's individual personality and create an exceptionally warm and loving space for them (and us!). Reva also makes it a priority to serve children of all abilities within the class. We travel 45 min to get to this program, and it's 100% worth it! If you are looking for a gentle way to transition your child to school for the first time, please consider BBBK- there are spaces available for the summer session (which we are enrolled in) as well as the next school year. I attached Reva's website as well as the Facebook page so you can see the cute pics of what the kids get up to during the day :) And I am happy to speak with anyone in greater detail; just want to spread the word about this lovely program that has helped our family so much. (August 2019)
  • 3’s program in Windsor Terrace

I second the Building Blocks BK recommendation! My son went there from age 2-3 years. Reva is amazing. It was the best thing we’ve done for him
  • 3’s program in Windsor Terrace

Building Blocks Brooklyn is an amazing program located not far from Windsor Terrace. Reva is a child development masters level professional (she also lives in Windsor Terrace) and only accepts 5 toddlers into her program each year. It has been an amazing experience for my son. Check out her FB page for more info: https://www.facebook.com/BuildingBlocksBK/
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Our son has loved his experience at BBBK. He started at 23 months and it has been an ideal introduction to the preschool experience. The ratio (5 kids, 2 teachers) allows for personal attention and a cozy environment. Reva is an SLP as well as a child development expert. HIs language and confidence has blossomed during his year under her care, and she has guided us through many toddler milestones (separation, tantrums, toilet training). I highly recommend this program! Has an outdoor space.
  • Shout Out: Building Blocks BK

If you happen to be looking for a 2s program, I can't recommend Building Blocks BK enough. This was my 4 year old's first experience in a more "structured" environment when he was 2 and I believe it helped prepare him for pre-school. The classes are small - max of 5 kids - and the director is very experienced and available.
  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

About the facility: Has outdoor space Review: The program is small and sweet. Only 5 toddlers, 1 teacher and an assistant. They are kept very busy - art, music, movement, story time, etc. Our son blossomed here - learned new skills, made friends, grew into a confident communicator. The focus is play but the day is very structured. This style may not be ideal for some but it worked perfectly for our son.
  • Review submitted via the PSP Daycare/Preschool 2016 Survey

Age: 1-2 years2-3 years Review: Our daughter has absolutely blossomed during her year at Building Blocks BK! Reva and Alysse helped her come out of her shell and the growth she has made is astonishing. It is a very small program, which was perfect for her. Communication is very clear and Reva is a great resource for all sorts of parent questions and concerns. The program is from 9-12 only which may not work for everyone, but was perfect for us. Highly recommended!
