Location: Park Slope Type of facility: Preschool Review: Great school led by Carmelo, a super energetic, caring founder and head of school. He hires great teachers and the curriculum is solid. What amenities does the facility have? Has after-school options, Has early morning hours Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? Had challenges like everybody else in adapting to changing DOE guidelines, but required masks all year and had zero full shutdown days in 21-22 due to Covid which was great.
  • Review from the Spring 2022 Early Childhood Education Survey

Location: Park Place Type of facility: Preschool, 3K Review: Overall, we enjoyed our experience at BPOS. Our son was happy at drop off and pick up and seemed to have loads of activities to keep him engaged. The school is STEM-based and the focus is on science learning and they have loads of lovely projects throughout the year as well as learning focuses each month. On these grounds we would recommend the school for curriculum. For us however, we didn’t have the best experience with the education team. His classroom teacher, while lovely, lacked a true joy of the job. Other teachers seemed more engaged and perhaps it’s all in who you get but when a school is on the higher side of the price spectrum you expect full engagement. We also had some small issues through the year where our son was taking very long naps, which made it difficult for us to put him to sleep at night. Our request for shorter naps were not even entertained and we were brushed off rather briskly by staff. Second, their lead site manager has a poor attitude. You can tell she just doesn’t want to be there and is counting down the hours. Many parents took issue with her. We would see her outside of school occasionally and she would basically ignore us even when my son begged me to say hello to her. Quite curt, short and frankly rude. The secondary manager however is lovely and did make up for negativity where she could. There are loads of options in Park Slope. Our other child attended when they were younger and it was a better experience the first time around with a more engaged staff and lovely site manager. If you live close it’s a good choice, otherwise I recommend to focus elsewhere. What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours: Most classrooms have access to outdoor space. The facility overall is nice and well maintained. They offer both before school and after school options. What would you change about the program, if anything? They need a new management staff and larger refocus on parents and community. It’s a rather expensive school and they treat parents they are doing us a favor. This is to be expected at some places but from our previous experience we know how great the school can and should be. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? We had great communication through Brightwheel and they post lovely photos throughout the day. They also have animals in most classrooms for the kids to interact with.
  • Review from the Spring 2022 Early Childhood Education Survey

Location: Park Slope Type of facility: Preschool Review: We enrolled our child in the 2s program on a part time basis to ease her into school (she has a nanny). And she loved it. The teachers were wonderful - constant feedback, meaningful parent-teacher conferences (with progress reports!). They have a class pet and our child really responded to their structure. The teachers really seemed to know her and she grew so much during the year. What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours What would you change about the program, if anything? Better communication on certain things. Not a deal breaker but the parents sometimes had to push for more info. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? I felt the school handled the protocols well. Sometimes the communication was lacking but we made it through the year.

Location: Brooklyn heights Type of facility: Preschool Review: My daughter LOVES BPOS! The teachers are wonderful, they learn such interesting things, they explore the neighborhood- all around amazing program! What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? They were very cautious and families were respectful of all of the policies which helped limit exposures
  • 2’s program this fall

My daughter loves the school and so do I.
  • 2’s program this fall

My son will be in the 2s program in BPOS at Wyckoff next year too. I love the school. It's been great for my older son, who's currently in the 3s program. Just yesterday they had a puppet show at school to reinforce what they're learning about liquids, gases, and solids. They've also had Author's Day, where a children's book author came in and read to them and Zoo day, which is my favorite--a zoologist comes in and brings animals, which the children can hold. Overall, our experience there has been wonderful.
  • 2’s program this fall

My 3.5 year old daughter goes to the Brooklyn Preschool of Science and attended last year in the 2s program. It’s a wonderful school and I’m constantly amazed at how much she is learning each week. The CoVID protocols are very good and there is a strong community amongst the parents. My younger daughter will attend the 2s program next fall. It’s on Park Place and 6th Ave so about a 5min walk from the Barclays Center.

Type of facility: 2s, 3s, 4s programs at one location Review: My son is in one of the 2s rooms at BPOS Park Slope. We have had a wonderful experience so far this year. He is happy, engaged, interested, and loves his two teachers. They are great about sending updates during the day in the Brightwheel app, as well as pictures. The teachers are very communicative and have responded very quickly the couple times we've sent questions. The couple items that have been challenges are that the paperwork is at times confusing or mislabeled, for example a form has a title but then is referred to by a different name in other places, and the descriptions of processes are at times confusing. What amenities does the facility provide? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? They have been great at working with our son's class to get them all closer to full-time mask wearing, and we've been appreciative of the teachers' efforts in this regard.
  • Review from the Fall 2021 Early Childhood Education Survey

Type of facility: Preschool Review: Love love love BPOS. What stands out to me is the plethora of enrichment activities (soccer, yoga, Spanish to name a few) on top of already varied “coursework” in the classroom; and recently they’ve brought back external speakers like authors and zoologists… as a result, every day is different and stimulating and contributes to her development (can you tell that I am very jealous of my two year old?). Most importantly, she is excited to go to school, even though her best friend goes to a different school, which to me says a lot. I heartily recommend. What amenities does the facility provide? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? Solid and clear protocols without being too invasive, have a science based approach to preventing spread and what “risks” are acceptable (eg when to being external speakers back into the school) which we appreciate.
  • Review from the Fall 2021 Early Childhood Education Survey

Type of facility: 3K Review: Overall we've had a positive experience. My child had never been to school or daycare, but the school managed the transition well. Teachers seem kind and loving. Not quite as responsive as I expected from a private school, but I'm sure if I followed-up more I would get a more than adequate response. The school has been COVID-free all year, which is amazing. Kids seem happy and occupied with activities and have shared some of their achievements. What amenities does the facility provide? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours

  • Preschools

My daughter turned 2 in July and started going to Brooklyn Preschool of Science in September (Park Pl location, 3 mornings/week). I really can’t say enough good things about the experience so far. We’ve been really impressed with their meticulous planning and attention to detail. Most importantly, she seems to love it.
  • Part-time morning-only preschool recs?

We loved Brooklyn preschool of science and they have a make-your-own schedule option for everyone. They not only have half days but you can even pick which days. They have several locations, we sent our LO to cobble hill.
  • Review from the 2019–2020 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: We have loved the program and have felt very safe sending our daughter there. Their communication on safety was been wonderful and they have really eased our nerves in these uncertain times. We love all of the projects and science experiments she is doing and that they send us a weekly newsletter so we can keep up with whats going on and read the same books at home. Overall its been a fantastic experience and we plan to send her again next year for more days a week. She gets so excited to go to school Amenities offered: Has after-school options, Has early morning hours What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing
  • Brooklyn Preschool of Science 2s program?

Our son is in the 2s program at Cobble Hill (though we live in Park Slope) and we love it! His teachers are great and the groups are nice and small- we started with 7 kids in his class and now the there are 9. One of the best things (besides all of the amazing emotional and mental development we’ve already seen) is the clear protocols and policies around Covid, which seem to be keeping everyone safe. Would be happy to share more info and/or join you for a play date!
  • Brooklyn Preschool of Science 2s program?

My daughter is in the 2s program now in Park Slope and it’s great. She has learned so much in the short time she has been there and she absolutely loves it. They have very robust COVID protocols and great communication about related issues. They allow up to 10 kids in a class this year but there are 7 in her class, and some days less depending on how many days each child is attending. When it was warmer, the parents got the kids in the class together outside on the weekends. The class parents also keep in contact via a Whats App group. I just signed her up for the 3s program and happy to connect with anyone enrolled, or talk to anyone considering the 2s program.

  • Review from the 2019–2020 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: Our son is enrolled in the 2’s program. From our tour with Maggie, who heads up the location to the two weeks of summer camp we enrolled our little one in to get oriented prior to the school year, we have been thrilled. Unlike his older brother (who attended a different program) our little guy was hesitant to separate. At all times, we were informed of progress and guided on how we could work as a team to make our son comfortable. The facility is bright, modern, clean, and colorful. The astronaut, adult size lite brite, mechanical wall, class pets, pint sized rest rooms, stroller room, and classroom cameras (so you can watch as you child calms down when you leave) are everything a pre-school parent could want. That said, what’s most impressive is the level of communication. We get so many emails, pictures, project re-caps and weekly updates that include both a review of the week and a look forward. These emails give us an opportunity to manage our son’s expectations and connect family conversations with school conversations and that thematic continuity is priceless. Also, they are flexible. We had a child care hiccup and they seamlessly accommodated our son for early drop off and late pickup. Finally, the specialists are magical. Our son loves yoga, dance, music, and will now sometimes ask for something in Spanish. We are so grateful for our experience. Our son has been met with patience, enthusiasm, warmth at every turn. … About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours … What would you change? I wish they were k-12.
  • Review from the 2019–2020 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: We moved our son to Brooklyn Preschool of Science after he had a bad start in Public UPK--he had liked their summer camp at the Cobble Hill location, so we were pleased when a spot in Brooklyn Heights opened up mid-fall. What a fantastic decision--we wished we had gone there from day one! Our usually shy, slow-to-warm-up child came out of his shell and was excited to go to school every day. The space is really fun and stimulating, with so many STEM toys that kids can explore. The teaching staff and administrators also made a huge effort to make our transition a positive one and were so accommodating and approachable. Also, the fact that you can do opt for after-school care on a one-off basis (for a fee) is great. … About the facility: Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours … What would you change? Perhaps add a parents-night-out option? I know some schools do that. Otherwise, amazing program and experience.
  • Review from the 2019–2020 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: BPoS is a fine school, safe and well-run, though from a teaching standpoint your mileage may vary depending on staff. We have had a great experience this year, and had an average one last year. … About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours … What would you change? Greater flexibility around extending days for emergency situations (e.g., babysitter/ nanny is sick and so need after school care)
  • Review from the 2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool Survey

Program is amazing - kids are very stimulated to learn with the science based approach. Ms Sasha is a fabulous teacher. DETAILS: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours
  • Carmelo the Science Fellow summer camp

We sent our son to the camp at a preschool of science in Park Slope and we absolutely LOVED it. We did dinosaur week - it’s as awesome as it sounds. The staff was incredibly friendly and it was my sons first experience at a drop off one week camp and he did great. Highly recommend it!

We’ve done Brooklyn Preschool of Science on Park Place for both kids and absolutely love it. Wonderful teachers and community
  • Review from the 2018/2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Excellent program and curriculum rooted in fun science. Super hands on with animals and the outdoors. Amazing staff and facilities. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours What would you change? Only down side is that the 2s program teachers could be more qualified in my opinion. Most are very young and fresh off of an assistant teaching gig. For this price I’d like to see more experienced/established teachers.
  • Review from the 2018/2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Love BPOS - the owner Carmelo is amazing, passionate, and truly proud of the great work he has done with these preschools. The entire staff is really responsive, on top of communications, organized, and really care about the children at the school. Teachers are great and the space is bright, really fun (fish tank, giant lite brite, dinosaurs and an astronaut to name a few) and has really great outdoor space, along with a few animals. Most importantly, my 2 year old, who has always had a nanny and had a challenging start to being dropped off somewhere, was so well taken care of. His teachers and staff sent email updates with pictures and stayed in close contact to ensure a smooth transition. We couldn't be happier to recommend BPOS more. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours What would you change? Providing lunch as an option would be great; the third party teachers for yoga, music etc. can sometimes vary in quality.

My son loves this school. It's a very welcoming and positive environment. Learning arts, letters through a science lens. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Excellent clean fun space with a great curriculum of stimulating outdoor focused material. Tons of child friendly add-ons and decor to make kids feel right at home. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours. What would you change? More time outdoors, but I would put this for any program.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

It's been great. I really love that they have a curriculum that incorporates tons of exploration and play. There are weekly/monthly themes based on "science" concepts that the kids love and come home chatting about. It's not rigid though and each classroom takes a slightly different approach. Our teachers are great, loving, happy, and easy to communicate with. Communication is great. There is a shutterfly page with 50-100 pictures posted each week with a description of the day to day learning, so you can discuss it with your child. I think I'll really miss this in U Pre-K next year- as I assume it doesn't happen in every classroom. Every day has a different enrichment activity. My child has dance, theater, Spanish, science or music, and yoga EVERY week, which I think is an incredible variety of enrichment. We'll definitely be sending our younger daughter there for the 3s program. About the facility: Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours. What would you change? It would be even better if it had outdoor space.
  • Brooklyn Preschool of Science

We love too many things about Brooklyn Preschool of Science to list them all here! We enrolled our daughter in the 4s class and she goes to school excited each day and comes home full of stories, new knowledge, and joy each night. The teachers are warm and engaging; the children are busy; and communication to/from the school and teachers flows well. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours.

Love the teachers and the curriculum. Staff are flexible and understanding, I feel like they are an extension to our family. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

It's not often as a parent that you feel as secure about a decision as we feel/felt about BPOS. Our daughter has absolutely blossomed there, she comes home explaining the color "spectrum" (and uses that word), what plants need to live, the types of habitats where animals live, etc. She used objects in our apartment to build a ramp similar to the one they made at school so she could teach us about motion. She's learned all her letters, is learning numbers and some basic math. Every day, she comes home excited to show off her new art projects. The teachers engage the students with so many hands-on science activities that they don't even realize they're learning, they're just playing. The community is warm, and parents are very close. The building itself is a virtual playground for the kids, and classrooms even have pets. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours. What would you change? Honestly? I'd make it go up into higher grades. We are extremely frustrated that we have to leave.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Our child has loved his experience at BPOS. We have found the teachers to be caring, compassionate and accommodating, and my child has learned so much in the last 2 years. The one thing that we haven't been as happy with is that we were drawn to the school in part because we knew the founder Carmelo the Science Fellow still acted as a science specialist to the kids once a week and was very actively involved with the classes, but now due to scheduling conflicts (and what seems to be rapid expansion of the preschool to additional locations) he is no longer teaching the classes. We weren't given any advance notice of this, and he was not replaced by another science specialist and instead by a music teacher. I'm sure the music teacher is great but we just feel that we're no longer getting the benefit of his presence which was part of the draw of BPOS. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Our child has thrived here,, the environment and teachers are exciting, fun, creative and the things they learn are amazing. I wish he could stay here though grade 12! About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours. What would you change? Music wasn’t offered this year until now, and I would have liked them to have had that all year along with their other specials of Spanish, drama, science, dance and yoga.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Lively, bright, clean facility. Teachers are so caring and responsive to individual children. Kids learn a tremendous amount, but it's fun and playful, with varied, creative activities and rotating classroom toys and other materials. Children go outside to the playground, on neighborhood nature walks, and to a nearby community garden. The science class with Carmelo is a weekly high point. There is a nice community of kids and parents. Child and I both love it and are sorry to leave it behind for kindergarten. Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours.
  • Review from the 2017 PSP Summer Camp Survey

The building and classrooms are absolutely gorgeous. The idea of having our child learn about science -related topics seemed really neat and exciting. Our daughter loves dinosaurs and bugs (a few things she studied during the 3 weeks she attended). In reality it was not a great situation for her or us. She didn't attend Brooklyn Preschool of Science during the school year, so everyone was new to her. The problem with that is that the teachers didn't put the effort nor the time to help with the drop off transition in the morning. Our daughter is typically great in new situations, but really disliked going there. She would come home and say that she cried, sat by herself, had no one to play with and didn't want to go back. We spoke to the teachers and tried to help them help her with the transition and also foster community. Simple things like introducing the kids to each other and having an activity first thing at drop off goes really far -- but at drop off the kids just aimlessly played or cried and the teachers were too busy preparing slim or something and gave very little attention to the kids. It felt like a bad daycare drop off. The camp teachers - who are also the teachers during the school year -- really need to engage emotionally with children and meet them where they are. Lots of tough love happening, which is not what our daughter is used to. She went to Beansprouts for her 2s program and the teachers there were so nurturing and thoughtful. If you could change anything, what would it be? Age of child: 3 Based on a Summer 2017 experience
  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours Review: We absolutely loved the Brooklyn preschool of science. I toured 4 other schools around the neighborhood and Bpos was by far our favorite of the bunch. Each classroom has large windows and access to outdoor space. Each class room has access to the bathroom, which is wonderful when potty training. Every day a new specialist comes into the class to teach them: dance, music, yoga, Spanish and science. My daughter now loves science and loves school! I highly recommend bpos. I can't think of any negatives to the school other than it is slighly more expensive than the rest, but it's worth it. I also felt my daughter was very safe and secure there. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing

  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours Review: BPOS was an amazing first school experience for our 3-year old son. He has learned so much this year, thanks to the incredible STEAM-based program that Carmelo and the other educators developed. There were also plenty of "special" activities including Yoga, Music, Dance and Spanish that helped to round out his experience. The school is a warm and inviting place, with plenty of opportunities for parent involvement and visits. Teachers were easily reachable via email and were in constant communication with parents about what was happening in the classroom and sharing pictures from week to week. If we weren't moving out of state, we would certainly be sending our son back to BPOS next year. It was an amazing preschool! What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? The price! ;)
  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours Review: BPOS is a great program - engaged teachers, organized administration, and really nice kids. My son just completed his second year, in the 3s class, and had a great time. For those who worry the name makes it feel specialized to science, once you meet Carmelo you realize that they do everything (art, science, creative play, etc) but the lessons use scientific principles as a base. Like colors, animals, measuring, etc. My son also made terrific friends and felt he had a real community with his school. I do think attending from 9-3 helped him establish relationships - the kids who were there for a shorter day experienced less of the free time and play. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I wish they had an actual playground. They have some outdoor space and as the kids got older visited local playgrounds, but I would have loved a playground.
  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Review: My daughter and I both loved it and she's returning next year. It's tremendously fun and I can't believe how much she learned. In addition to science with Carmelo (my daughter's favorite -- she often asks why I can't be as funny as Carmelo), she had yoga and music. A pleasant surprise was how much art they have in the curriculum; they seem to paint or sculpt or build things once or twice a day. The other kids and parents are nice and we've enjoyed getting to know them. I wish they'd expand to kindergarten and elementary grades so we never had to leave. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? One small detail: Each child should have his/her own cubby. Because space is tight they cram the belongings of two kids into a single cubby, which doesn't work, especially with winter gear. A small daily frustration -- trying to fit things in, finding your child's stuff on the floor or missing at the end of the day.
  • Review submitted via the PSP 2016 PreK Survey

Review: I have 1 child in the PreK4 class and 1 child in the 2's class. We could not be happier. The teachers are energetic, nurturing, and seem to love what they do. The curriculum is structured around science themes and really focuses on fostering creativity and a love for learning. The PreK4 class teacher differentiates what each student needs and individualizes their experience. The 2's class teacher has assisted potty training and made the transition out of diapers seamless at school with no hesitation. Both my kids have fostered wonderful friendships, and I see their socio-emotional state flourishing. Overall, the school is a FUN place to be, and it is magnified when the director walks through the school. Carmelo knows every student's name, and they flock to him. I remember being concerned it would be too "academic." The kids are learning, but it is never forced on them and information is always presented with lots of movement and play. It is a very special school. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? We would add a Kindergarten class, so we could stay at BPOS longer! Review submitted via the PSP 2016 PreK Survey

Program: 2's Age: 3-4 years Review: Outstanding experience overall with highly stimulating programs for the children. Specifically: - highly energetic teachers with extensive parent/teacher communication, including weekly email digests with full curriculum details and 100+ pix of students (with permission) - hands-on science-based curriculum - brightly colored, brand new facility, with animals in each classroom. almost feels like a children's museum. - extremely nurturing environment.
  • Review submitted via the PSP Daycare/Preschool 2016 Survey

Program: 2s class Age: 2-3 years Review: The program was very high quality. Teachers were awesome - well prepared, kept the children stimulated and were always introducing new concepts. They taught by letting them explore and learn - a unit on bugs involved magnifying glasses and even taking one home. My child was excited about everything he learned and made really good friends. The administration is also on top of things and it was well organized and run. The facility is also beautiful and always clean and safe. Recommend? Highly recommend
  • Review submitted January 2016 via from Daycare Survey

We have been thrilled with Brooklyn Preschool of Science. Our son, who is 3.5, has been thriving. He was attending another local, loving, wonderful day care, where he was no doubt happy, but at BPOS, he is learning so much every day. I was worried about a school that seemed to specialize in something- as I think kids this age should just play and not choose a "speciality" but, true to their claim, they use science concepts as an entry point, tapping into children's natural curiosity about how the world works, and then they approach these ideas from all perspectives- touching on music, movement, stories, etc. Carmello is practically a rock star to the kids- he and his people do a really really wonderful job. Highly recommend.
  • Review Submitted via Fall 2015 Daycare/Preschool Survey

PROGRAM: 65 Park Place TIME: MWTHF 9a-3p AGE: 3-4 years REVIEW: The difference from preschool last year (at a different facility) to this year (at BPOS) is like night and day. My son is thriving. He went from resisting going to school to asking daily for it. He is also truly learning. He comes home telling me about wanting to visit Africa to see the Sphinx in person; how germs are spread, and why we need to wash our hands; about the life cycle of plants, when he encountered the seeds in the pear he was casually eating; the difference between cold and warm climates and which animals live in each - the list goes on. His teachers are warm, helpful, excited about teaching and most importantly to me, seem to really get my son. The administrators are on the ball, it is well run and managed, and there's no drama. If I could send him again next year for Kindergarden, I would. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND? (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend WOULD YOU DO IT AGAIN? Absolutely

It is a really fantastic place that Carmelo has created. My younger son is in the 3s class now, and he will be in the pre-k next year. I will be sad when we will age out of BPOS! My sons both love(d) going to school and the teachers are fantastic. We were at another (well know, coveted and supposedly wonderful) preschool the year prior to sending my older son to BPOS, and I can tell you that BPOS blew that place out of the water. I am sure the Park Slope location will be amazing. (Reviewed Jan 2015)

My daughter is in the twos program at Brooklyn Preschool of Science in cobble hill. We agonized over choosing the right preschool and I absolutely feel that we made a fantastic decision. My daughter loves going to school. Her verbal and comprehension skills are through the roof. She is two and can tell you about photosynthesis and evaporation. She is learning Spanish. The school looks at learning through a scientific lens and my daughter is seriously learning. Her teacher is a loving, smart, engaging woman with a masters in science and a BA in early childhood education. She empowers the kids to try new things, build friendships, and be kind. I could not recommend BPOS more highly. (Reviewed Jan 2015)

I can answer this one! So: last year our then-four year old was in a program here in Park Slope that was, to put it mildly, not working. He cried at the mention of school. He begged us probably 50 times a day to not make him go back. He said he never, ever wanted to go to Kindergarten. So, in the middle of the year, we pulled him out. We'd taken classes at the Cosmic Cove, so I called the BPOS to see if they could make space for him, and they did. And I can't over-state the transformation that took place: our son went from hating school to LOVING it. They were such good teachers -- enthusiastic, excited to teach, and genuinely caring about what was best for each kid. And the physical school itself was awesome -- creatively designed, with an eye towards engaging the kids. We can't sing Carmelo's praises highly enough. And we can't imagine how different the experience of starting Kindergarten this year would have been if we hadn't found the Preschool of Science. My only annoyance is that they didn't open in Park Slope last year, and save us all that time on the bus. I have no doubt they'll build another great space over here. (Reviewed January 2015)
