  • Preschool Recommendation: Brooklyn Children's House Crown Heights

Hello! My daughter, who is two, recently started at the Brooklyn Children's House in Crown Heights and it has been such a great experience that I wanted to share about it here. Brooklyn Children's House is a small Montessori program for two and three year-olds near Franklin and St. Marks in Crown Heights. My daughter started there in September and it has been a wonderful, even magical, experience. The teachers are skilled and caring. Lisa has Montessori certification and Gyrchel has years of experience with small children. They are both thoughtful, kind, loving, and are available to help think through developmental milestones (like potty training) and to celebrate when kids are doing charming, fun, and exciting things (like climbing to the top of the climber or asking another student for hugs). It is a joy take to my daughter to school, and I feel so grateful for how much she is learning there. She puts away her toys on her own now! She always says thank you! She tells us delightful stories about her day! They even serve lunch! I can't recommend them highly enough.
  • ISO day care recommendation in Clinton Hill/Fort Greene area

We send our son to Brooklyn Children's House in BedStuy. It's Montessori and wonderful. Full disclosure, we are friends with the woman who runs it, but we met her as our son's teacher and loved her so much, we became friends. But anyway, it's really wonderful.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

This is a brand new Montessori pre-k that is AMAZING. The teacher Lisa is Montessori certified and was our son's teacher at Friend's Family Center. The layout is large, sunny, and simple. Do not expect walls of charts and rainbows. It's serene. My son just adores Lisa, we adore Lisa, and she runs a fun, creative, tight ship, in line with much of the early education principles of RIE and of course Maria Montessori. My son loves outdoor play time, music time, and all of the many projects he creates. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options. What would you change? Honestly it's our dream program. We've had our son in 3 other summer programs and daycare's and this one is the most aligned with the Montessori ethos.
