Review from the Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Afterschool Survey
REVIEW: We are really glad we found Brooklyn Ballet. Our daughter loves ballet and has been taking classes since she was little, but she also has other interests and it can be hard to find a school that is the right fit (not pre-professional but not too casual). She has really enjoyed the classes at Brooklyn Ballet, where she has been for the past 3 years. The school is a warm, positive place that has worked with us to help her keep doing ballet without it needing to take over her life. She enjoys the teachers and the classes very much. Ballet Review: Our daughter loves her ballet class. She’s been taking classes at a few different schools since she was 3 and this school has been her favorite—it’s a great balance of challenge and positivity.Virtual dance class recommendations
Jessica’s pre-ballet class through Brooklyn Ballet is imaginative and fun. She is an excellent teacher.(no subject)
We've been very happy with Brooklyn Ballet, on Schermerhorn between Smith and Hoyt. We also live in Prospect Heights, and it's a 10-minute trip on the B41 bus. My 3 year-old is currently in "Pre-Ballet I" with Nancy on Sunday mornings, and it's lovely. (November 2011)(no subject)
Brooklyn Ballet Name of specific class (if applicable) - Pre-Beginner Ballet Location - Schermerhorn (Downtown) How old is your child? (or the age when he/she attended this program)? Age: - 4 What did you/your child like about this program or class? This is a "real ballet" workshop, a week during the summer. Not that it makes much difference with 4 year olds, but since my daughter had asked for a ballet class, I felt compelled to find one that conveyed both the discipline and the art of ballet, and that did not market itself as "dance motion" or "creative movement." The teacher seemed to be a real ballerina and conveyed the exact kind of serious joy that one might expect, but the class was well-tailored to 4-year olds. It was just the right amount of ballet for a little girl who knows "Angelina Ballerina" and not much else. What would you change about the program? This studio is funded by the City and other donors, and is just getting off the ground. As such, the space isn't fully built out and feels a little improvised. For the younger set, it would be nice to have a longer workshop (two days a week for 3 weeks?), so that the lessons have a chance to be absorbed. However, it was a good introduction to ballet. Will you send your child back to this program or class again? (Or would you if you could?) Yes Would you recommend this program to other parents for their child in the future? Highly recommend
