Modern dance classes for K?
Professional modern dancer and teacher here! BAX is incredible, as is Dancewave. I would and will happily send my kiddo to either of those places once he's older.December Birthday Party Ideas for Kindergartener?
Depending on how many kids you want to invite, BAX has a very large studio where they do birthday parties. You can just rent the space and do it all yourself or you can have one of their teachers leading kids in fun games/dance..our daughter went there for a 4s birthday and enjoyed it.Shout out for BAX Custom Classes
I'm writing to recommend BAX's Custom Class option. I have no affiliation with BAX except being a happy parent and community member! Our kids have loved BAX for many years and we love their perspective on performing arts that is non-competitive and supports community development. The kids had been so sad not to be able to learn with BAX artists in-person until we signed them up for a BAX Custom Class. BAX custom classes quickly have become the highlight of my kids' week. They were so excited to learn, in person, with BAX artists after so long. They finish tumbling class sweaty and happy - which I really appreciate in the winter, when we're stuck in a tiny apartment with limited options to run around! And from the perspective of a parent, BAX staff was so helpful, easy to work with, and took the highest precautions in terms of Covid. We can't thank BAX enough for making this possible.Remote dance classes for kids (not a series, just single classes)
Both of our daughters started with Bax at 18 months with the movement classes and also ballet at 2 at Dance Studio of Park Slope! Starting at 5, they get to do jazz, and onto acro/ street/ ballet. There are Fall classes virtual though it's by semester. It's a fraction of in person dance classes. They are a committed team serving Park Slope for many years!Drop in groups on Fridays
You should check out the play space at BAX on fifth ave and 8th street. They have open play from 9:30 to 11:30 on Fridays and (I think) Monday’s and it’s great. Tons of baby gym stuff and there’s a sing along at 10:30. It’s $10 for drop in, $8 if you get a 10 session punch card.Drop in groups on Fridays

Try BAX. Reasonable prices and great space and very accommodating people. The main drawback is that you have to shlep everything up the stairs and then down again.ISO affordable space for rent for a birthday party
Check out BAX: https://thebuilding.bax.org/birthday/ We had about 25 kids there for a party a couple of years ago. They give you two rooms: one for food and the other is a dance studio.2016 review
We did our twins 4th birthday which came with teaching artist but you can customize. It's a good bang for buck price wise. We did pizza and coffee from them and brought our own cupcakes and mimosas. Nice big spaces and the money goes to a great place too. Supports artists and kids programs. They do book up tho!2018 Reivew
It is great as they set up lots of mats, toys, tunnels. (It costs more though) and they do light decorations. We did our 2nd bday there. They provide tables, chairs, sound system and you can bring your own food, music, decorations(BAX alcohol too if you care for the grownups).[Winter2015Babies] Birthday venues for 3 year old parties
Brooklyn Arts Exchange and the YMCA Armory are both great, affordable locations with room for kids to play! BAX provides more in terms of things for an indoor playroom.Review from Kids Birthday and Bar/Bat Mitzvah Party Survey - 2016
Age of child: 3 Venue Review: Venue is gorgeous and staff is lovely. The 30 min set up, if you're bringing food, is pretty tight. I recommend 2-4 adults + the BAX employee to set up IF you want to set up before people arriveRe: high level dance class
BAX has a great program called BAX CO - not sure if 10 is too young for it though. I"m a choreographer and have worked with these young people and been consistently impressed. I also personally know several of the choreographers who have run the program, and they are all very talented people.2012 Birthday Party Survey
LIKES: The staff at BAX was super accommodating, from booking the party, to setting up and cleaning up, to the head teaching assistant who led the movement class/activity portion of the party. What you'd change: I would have ordered less food (though La Bagel Delight was amazing to work with and I'd use them again), and I would have shortened the activity to 20/25 minutes instead of the 30+ minutes it wound up being. This was for mostly two and three year olds so 20 or 25 minutes would have been *plenty*. Do you recommend (High Rec, Rec, Rec w/ Reservations, Do Not Rec)? Highly Recommend2012 Birthday Party Survey
LIKES: We liked the space at BAX because we could have a simple relaxed party that reflected our personalities. Because our child was just 2, we did not have any programming or entertainment other than the use of some climbing equipment and mats. They just provide the two rooms (one for food and one for play), tables, chairs, plates and cups and a few other things like coffee and tea for adults. We made the food and decorated with balloons and flowers. It was laid back and a nice space without a lot of hoopla. The staff were barely involved, but they were friendly and helpful at every point. What you'd change: I wish we had a little more time for set-up and clean-up. It was half an hour for each, which is not much time to set up an entire party. Do you recommend (High Rec, Rec, Rec w/ Reservations, Do Not Rec)? Highly RecommendReview from Birthday Party Survey, 2010

Party: tumbling party Age of Child 5 Reason for Choice: of special interest to my child Likes: She loved the tumbling theme with all her friends and classmates. The instructors were absolutely wonderful and engaging. The space available was amazing and easy to plan the party. Changes: I wish the staff (excluding the instructors) were more helpful. Bax provides plastic ware(plates, utensils) , but we ran out of plastic ware at some point and I had to wash all the plastic ware for the cake. Should just bring your own paper plates/plastic ware, etc. Not included in the Party Package: invitations, food for kids, party bags, cake, Cost Per Child: $26-$30 DO you recommend?
