Pediatric ophthalmologist affiliated with Mount Sinai?
Highly recommend Dr. Brian Campolattaro! Just checked and it looks like he is affiliated with Mt Sinai (we see him in his midtown or Scarsdale offices). He’s a wonderful person and is the absolute best at his specialty. Helped recommend a few other incredible specialists when we needed them (two of which got us in their offices in a jiffy at his referral) We see him every year for one daughter and he performed tear duct surgery on my other one at 3 years old - he’s a master! (If we had gone to him sooner for the tear duct issue, he could have done the procedure in his office, without anesthesia) A friend who’s son has had eye issues from infancy also sees him and they can’t say enough praise either, after 12+ years.Pediatric ophthalmologist?

Dr. Frederick Wang/Dr. Brian Campolottarro are exceptional, but it depends on what you need a pediatric ophthalmologist for in terms of whether or not it's worth traveling to midtown.Duane Syndrome
I don't have experience with this particular syndrome, BUT my son has strabismus and has two eye surgeries. I can't recommend Dr. Campolattaro enough. He's so talented, super friendly, kind and responsive.ISO: Pediatric Ophthalmologists
We second Dr. Campolattaro. My son was diagnosed with strabismus and ultimately required surgery this past summer. He has a great bedside manner with kids as well. We had seen two other ophthalmologists prior and were rather underwhelmed by their interaction with our almost 5 year old.ISO: Pediatric Ophthalmologists
I second Dr Campolattaro. His office can be kind of chaotic — mostly with long wait times (once they ordered pizza for everyone waiting bc it was soo long). BUT, he’s the best, so it has felt worth the schlepp and wait. Once you’re with him, he’s present and takes the time necessary. We originally went to him for a second opinion after the pediatric ophthalmologist we saw in Brooklyn said our son would need surgery. Not only did he disagree, but he had us wait so another doctor could review our son’s case just to be sure. He is a bit of a character, but very solid and well respected and does a lot of pro bono work and has a very inclusive office setting. He was recommended to us by a friend whose daughter did need surgery (he performed the surgery) — and she told us a funny story about how she’d had a long debate with someone about who had the better doctor (one was in the city and was in the burbs). They went back and forth for quite some time until they realized they were both talking about Dr Campolattaro.Strabismus
Yes. Our middle kid has had surgery to correct this -- twice. First at one year old, the second time just a few times ago when he was 14. The doctor/surgeon we have I could not recommend more: Dr. Brian Campolattaro. His manner with kids (and the parents) is so fantastic, and he's really really considerate and cautious and communicative. Surgery is scary, and he's a good person to have at your side the whole way. I'm happy to tell you more if you have specific questions.ISO Recommendations for Pediatric Ophthalmologist
We love Brian Campolattaro. He’s a little bit of a hike near Bryant Park, but we don’t mind it. He won our now-5 year old super easily when she first saw him about 2.5 years ago and she looks forward to her yearly checkups.Re: Support for 3 year old with crossed eyes
One of my kids had eye surgery with Dr. Campolattaro and has cross-eyes in some degree or another since birth. There is a place online you can buy super-cool eye patches that are sort of like band-aids (stick on and come off). My kid had flowers and camo patches at various times. Eye patches are cool. Eye patches are cool. Repeat!Recommendations for pediatric ophthalmologist
I third the rec for Dr. Campolattaro - I agree with what others have said. And I'll add that when I did my research by asking others (including doctors) he kept coming back as one of the best. And I've been very happy with the treatment he's given to both of my kids. If you do a search of his name in the archives of this message board, you can also get a fuller picture.Recommendations for pediatric ophthalmologist

Dr. Campalatarro is the ABSOLUTE best!!!! http://www.childrenseyeny.com/our-practice/meet-the-team/dr-brian-campolattaro/ He is one of the nicest, most compassionate doctors you will ever meet. Good luck,Review - Dr. Brian Campolattaro
My son (at 9 months old) recently had a procedure done to open his left tear duct in his eye by Dr. Campolattaro, and I am so grateful to the Dr. that I wanted to share our experience. Dr. Campolattaro is one of the very few ophthalmologists in NYC (though this is it is common outside NYC) who will do the procedure without general anesthesia, which also means that you can have it done before the child is one year old and in the Dr.'s office, rather than having to go into the hospital. Dr. Campolattaro and his nurses are obviously experts with kids, and were so gentle and sweet with my son, putting him immediately at ease. The whole procedure, which we had been dreading, took less than 5 minutes. We arrived at the office at 7:00 and left at 7:18, it was amazing. While my son did cry briefly when it was performed, he stopped crying as soon as I was able to pick him up. The only after-effect was a little trickle of blood, which stopped over the next couple of hours. He was able to go to the playground just two hours later! Overall, it did not seem too uncomfortable for him, and so worth it considering how much he complains each time we had to clean his eye out (often multiple times a day). Also Dr. Campolattaro said that the goopyness was already starting to affect my son's vision's development, so we are so glad we didn't wait anymore. In fact, I only wish we had done it sooner! I am so grateful to Dr. Campolattaro for being so patient and kind to my son, and for allowing us to avoid a major surgery under general anesthesia!Re: Clogged tear duct
Our daughter had this procedure done very soon after her 1st birthday. We had a very good experience with Dr. Brian Campolattaro from Pediatric Ophthalmology of NY (http://www.childrenseyeny.com/). If your son fits certain criteria (I remember weight and height being factors), this procedure can be done on-site without general anesthesia.(no subject)
My son saw Dr. Campolattaro a couple of years ago and he was fantastic. (Jan 2011)(no subject)
I took my daughter to see Dr. Campolattaro because she hadn't yet produced tears by the time she was 1 year old. He was pretty brusque and told me "She'll never have tears, but it's no big deal, she'll just never be an actress". I guess he's a specialist in this rare condition, but I thought his bedside manner left something to be desired. (January, 2011).
