Birth Matters NYC (est. 2010) provides evidence-based, comprehensive, practical prep so you can feel confident and well-equipped for the journey into parenthood. We offer 1) live group & private childbirth classes or 2) an online/on-demand version of our comprehensive curriculum so you can go at your own pace and even review later in pregnancy or use as a refresher for a future pregnancy. To further support you in this journey, Birth Matters also heads up the East River Doula Collective, which can connect New Yorkers with much-needed support in the form of fertility, birth, or postpartum doulas, parent groups and other offerings. Birth Doula: Jess & Sophia (Jess attended) Review: Jess was amazing. She is a quiet leader and I trusted her judgement during my 27 hours of labor. I would have been lost without her. I could not have labored at home as long as I did. She took photos at the birth which I cherish. She came over after I gave birth to assist with breastfeeding and to check in. Childbirth Instructor: Birth Matters / Lisa Greaves Taylor What month and year was your child born? 02/2023 Review: We purchased Lisa’s online pregnancy/child birth and postpartum classes, as we wanted classes we could go through on our own time. We learned a lot from Lisa, and took with us a lot of good pointers and things to remember. March 2023 Review: This was a fabulous class, super thorough and informative, thoughtfully presented in Lisa's home in Queens. Childbirth Instructor: Lisa Taylor Greaves, Birth Matters (Astoria, Queens) What month and year was your child born? January 2023 Review: We were supposed to go in person. In person would have been better. I can see how Lisa would be engaging and informative. The videos were great, but they were long. It was hard to get through them all on our own time. Lisa has a strong bias for breastfeeding and its benefits. Unfortunately, her attitude made me feel pressure to breastfeed, which is very hard! Her birth class education was very good. Lisa is knowledgeable and her video classes are interesting. We knew we wanted minimal interventions, and Lisa's classes definitely helped us know what to expect and how to advocate for the birth we wanted.
