We were lucky enough to have Bernadette as our baby nurse for both of our children. She is as warm and caring as she is professional, and her extensive experience with newborns was invaluable during our transition to parenthood and then to a family of four. In addition to handling all night feeding-related tasks (diaper changes, burping, swaddling, preparing and washing bottles), she also taught us all the basics of newborn care, including how to give the baby a bath safely, preventing diaper rash, burping techniques.. the list goes on! Bernadette also provides breastfeeding support and is incredibly helpful in getting a sleepy baby to latch and stay awake to eat and gain back their birth weight. While Bernadette is happy to provide recommendations and suggestions from her years of experience, she is also very flexible to your family's needs and supportive of any combination of breast and formula feeding. Bernadette was such a positive, calming presence in our home and helped us feel confident as first-time parents and parents of two. We couldn't recommend her highly enough!

Bernadette was our baby nurse/night nanny for over 2 months (Her website: https://bernadettebabynurse.com). She was with us from the day we arrived home from the hospital with our son and taught us everything we needed to know about newborn care. It was such a relief to have her guide us through everything, from our first bath, through breastfeeding issues, minor health concerns, and especially helping with nighttime feeds. Bernadette brings a huge amount of experience as well as a very upbeat, loving personality and was a pleasure to be around. We had such a good time, sharing many laughs during nighttime breastfeeds! Bernadette truly loves babies and helped ease so much of the new parent anxiety and uncertainty. I feel very lucky and grateful to Bernadette for making the first few months so much more enjoyable and restful!

I would like to wholeheartedly recommend the incredible Bernadette Mullings as your future baby nurse. After doing research here on Park Slope Parents and specifically looking for someone who could help us transition into first time parenthood, my husband and I were immediately taken with Bernadette's website and reviews. We wanted to make sure that we hired the right person for the first three weeks of my son's life, as well as make sure that we were spending our money wisely. We met with Bernadette a few months before we had our baby, and were immediately impressed by her incredible warmth, breadth of knowledge on newborns, expertise with lactation and post-partum support, and complete professionalism. We had spoken to a few other baby nurse's and it hadn't felt right -- when we met Bernadette we just knew she was someone special. She kept in touch with us in the months leading up to the delivery, asking how I was feeling, and making sure we knew she was present and ready for whenever our son wanted to arrive. It helped us feel like we weren't alone! And when our baby arrived, we could breathe easy knowing that on our first night at home, Bernadette would be there. We absolutely adore Bernadette. Every night that she came to our apartment (at 7PM on the dot!), she came with a big smile (under her mask, of course!), with a wonderful, calm, and reassuring energy (which for first time parent's is necessary!), and showed us everything from diaper changes, to proper burping, to latching, to swaddling. She really empowered us as parents. After Bernadette finished her time with us, not only did we feel like we had a new member of our family, but we felt confident that we could really do this on our own. And that is something that is completely invaluable. I could not recommend Bernadette more and can't wait until she can come back and work with us with Baby #2!
  • A recommendation for the most amazing night nurse, especially for twins

Our beloved baby nurse Bernadette Mullings is available and looking for a new job so I just wanted to pass along my highest recommendation for her. (Her website: https://www.nybabynurse.com/) I was lucky to have Bernadette in my life for two months after giving birth to twins. I give her the highest recommendation possible. I interviewed six other baby nurses prior to meeting Bernadette. Everyone else was fine, but not great. They approached baby care like they were punching a clock and seemed certain that I would be formula feeding my twins. When Bernadette walked through the door, it was clear that she was different. She had a warmth, expertise and love of her job. Unlike the others, she told me that she would work with me to give my babies the best care possible and of course would help me reach my breastfeeding goals. When we came home after a fairly traumatic birth, Bernadette was waiting for us. I can’t even properly describe the feeling of relief I experienced when I saw her. I knew that I was in capable, loving hands. And she proved that to be true—and then some—for the next two months. Here is what living and working with Bernadette is like: -Bernadette is a team player. She’s not someone who just wants get the job done and go home. She wants to teach, work with you and support you through those early days. - She loves babies. Her whole face lights up when she sees the little ones and they love her just as much. - She is a master juggler. She handled my twins, who had some intense bouts of colic, with ease. I’m still in awe. - She supports the family. She guided me through successfully breastfeeding twins, making sure that I was feeling okay and comfortable, checking in on me after a c-section, and providing emotional support throughout. She helped me struggle through mastitis and PUPS (a terrible pregnancy itch that hit me postpartum) and aided me with improving my latch and trying breastfeeding positions. I am certain that I would not still be breastfeeding my twins without her support. -She gets you on a schedule. This is key and something that I didn’t quite understand until Bernadette showed me. From moment one, Bernadette got our babies comfortable in a crib and set on a bedtime. Now at three months, my babies go down without a hitch and sleep anywhere from six to eight hours a night. This is all thanks to Bernadette’s work. - She shares years of knowledge. She helped us with everything from how to deal with cradle cap to how to properly bathe a baby. -She makes sure everything is orderly and cleanly and that the babies have everything they need in the best possible environment. On top of all of the above, Bernadette is a joy to be around. She is warm, enthusiastic and loving. I’m so lucky that she came into our lives. I never felt worried when she was around and I will be forever grateful to her for giving us the gift of certainty during such a tumultuous time.

  • Shout Out for Amazing Local Baby Nurse!

Bernadette has been with our family for nearly 10 years in varying capacities: baby nurse, part-time and full-time nanny. Wha t has not varied is her compassion, her uncanny ability to connect with the youngest babies, and unflappable, professional attitude. She is now moving on to focus exclusively on her practice as a certified baby nurse. You can visit her website: nybabynurse.com to contact her, read testimonials, and learn more about what a baby nurse does. She has been a confidante and protector of my oldest, now 10, who has special needs. She has cared for my 6 year old since he came home from the hospital, as well as his sister, now 15 months old. I will never forget the moment she met my oldest, then 4 months old. He lit up immediately, responding to her with a giant gummy smile. Bernadette has been with us through it all- from sleep training to potty training and beyond. She has brought so much love and care to our family that I would recommend her without reservation to any family seeking help while in the throes of new parenthood. She is truly the baby whisperer.
