seeking recommendations for a window installation company
We had a good experience with Bay Ridge Windows and Doors. Family-owned, current boss started as crew and married the boss’s daughter, crew efficient and conscientious. Current boss does the evaluation and bid. Seems like a right-sized company— not too big, not too small. -
Custom Built Screens for Windows and Patio Doors
We hired Rob from Windows and Doors to install custom screens for our windows a few years ago and are very happy with his work. His number is 347-552-0082. -

Re: ISO: Window Screen Repair Company
We used Rob from Windows and Doors a couple of times. He made and installed new screens for our non standard size windows and also fixed our screen door. We are happy with his service and pricing. -

Re: Window Replacement We did this last year, and used the recommendations on the parkslopeparents.com website. I will say that I did not pay enough attention to the negative reactions to Bay Ridge Windows and Doors (there were a few positive ones, too). They made mistake after mistake and had a terrible attitude throughout. Note: if you live in the landmark district and you are doing your front windows, you will need to get approval from the Landmarks Commission. This should not be a problem, unless your company does the drawings wrong (ahem). -
Disappointing Experience
Before working with BRWD, I read the reviews and chose to believe the positive ones, not the negative ones. Unfortunate mistake. They were really bad every step of the way. They messed up the drawing (for which I gave them $500) I needed for the Landmarks District, and I had to re-do it. They were slow to reply and respond, and didn't get my order done in the time they said they would. When they arrived to install the windows (a big job -- 6 of them, over $6k), they discovered that one of the windows was mis-ordered, and didn't fit. They had to come back several weeks later to install it. Worst of all, for me, was their attitude throughout. Never once an apology, and never once any attempt to do anything to make up for their repeated mistakes. They acted like it was a favor to me when they came back to install one window! -

I used Bay Ridge Windows and Doors based on recommendations from the parkslopeparents site, and have found them to be very unresponsive, unhelpful, and rigid! They have 3 positive and 2 negative reviews on the site -- but they will be getting a third negative one from me! (December, 2010)
