• Short-term couple’s therapy

  Hi! My husband and I finally did couples therapy over the summer. We’ve been together for 11 years, married for 5 and have a toddler and a crazy life (who doesn’t these days?!) and I’ve been saying since before we got married we should go to therapy, but the pandemic made it absolutely necessary. I luckily had the name of a therapist from my acupuncturist, so I set up a consultation with her and was so glad I did. I thought we’d be digging into our past and figuring out why we do/say what we do, but instead she focused on learning tactics to resolve our conflicts without reverting to our normal behaviors (which would always end up in huge fights with no resolution). And the good news is, after about two months of sessions, we felt like we were in a good place and haven’t needed to continue regularly. But it’s nice to know we can set up another session anytime if/when we hit a rough patch and need to remind ourselves how to fight nicely!
