Summer camp options in Windsor Terrace area?
We love the after school programs at Barking Cat art studio though have found the summer camps hard to get into since space is very limited.Summer camps for 6-year-olds?
We also love Barking Cat art studio which has camps (we've done a school vacation camp there as well as after school).Re: Art Classes - 2 year old
I'm a huge fan of http://www.barkingcatstudio.net/ in Kensington, close to the Windsor Terrace border. Karen, the instructor, is lively & fun. She embeds appropriate learning goals in each activity and keeps it fast paced for the little ones. My 2 yo son really enjoys his Monday AM class, and is proud of his weekly arts and crafts accomplishments- his bedroom is littered with his art work.Shout out for Karen at Barking Cat Studio - art classes!
Just a few words about the art classes for toddlers at Barking Cat Studio (they have them for older kids as well!) I had taken my son for an art class years ago when they were in Boerum Hill. It was such fun, and the painting he did is still hanging in our kitchen as one of my favorites. This morning I took my 2.5 yr old daughter for a class, and Karen had her at hello :) She has a real way with the little ones. Mine was enthralled. They are now located in Windsor Terrace. It was an easy ride for us on the 7th ave bus from North Slope. Karen has more energy than I could ever have, and she does the kinds of projects I wish I had the space (and patience) for. My daughter loved it. It was a farm yard theme and we walked away with a cow, sheep and chick made of cotton balls, paper plates, construction paper, a toilet paper roll, feathers and qtips. Such fun! The studio is roomy and colorful, with so much to look at. A real kid magnet. We will definitely be going back. They have drop ins or you can do a class package.(no subject)
LIKES: staff was organized and enthusiastic. What you'd change: bigger space. Do you recommend (High Rec, Rec, Rec w/ Reservations, Do Not Rec)? Highly Recommend (2012 Birthday Party Survey)(no subject)
Ditto! (response to review below, Jan 2012)Shout-out for Barking Cat Studio
...And it's a great birthday party venue. I went to a 2nd birthday party there last weekend and all the kids had a great time. The owners were amazing. They have a wonderful energy. (Jan 2012)(no subject)
Our two-and-a-half year old has been going to Barking Cat for almost a year now, and he absolutely loves it. The activities are well-paced for the kids' ages (not too fast, but not too slow to cause restlessness), and incredibly creative -- I don't know how Karen and Maria come up with new themes for each class, but I have not seen any repetition yet! I am not affiliated with them either -- just a very happy parent, whose son loves his "art class, stamp-stamp!" (June 2011)(no subject)
I want to give a huge shout out to Barking Cat Studio. They host arts & craft classes for kids of all ages. Every activity is different and fun! I swear I have as much fun as my 2 year old. Karen and Maria of Barking Cat are amazing! I ran into them yesterday at their tent at the 7th Avenue Festival. They greeted my entire family with hugs and were genuinely excited to see us.
