  • TWO posts seeking therapists for parenting special needs kids

I highly recommend Ann Smith, LCSW. I have seen her for two years during the tumultuous late teens. Wish I’d started earlier but she helped me through and my daughter is going to a college for kids with learning differences in 3 weeks!
  • Review from the 2021 Therapist Survey

During what time span have you seen this therapist? April 19-present (10 sessions) Type of therapist: clinical social worker specializing in kids What kind of patients does this therapist see? Younger Children, Families If the therapist treats any special kinds of issues or uses specific therapeutic techniques, please list/describe those here. My child sees her for anxiety In-person, Zoom, or telephone therapy? Zoom/Video therapy, In-person therapy Briefly describe the reasons you decided to seek help: My daughter was having severe anxiety about entering middle school and Ann has taught her skills to help her cope, and also to talk to her about her fears. Does the therapist take insurance, and if not, how has your experience been with filing claims? You have to pay her directly ($250/session) and then submit claim to insurance and/or flex spending. Review: I highly recommend Ann Smith if your child is having issues with school. She spends time talking to the parents first to try to understand your child and their issues. My daughter was really hysterical about the idea of leaving elementary school and entering middle school. Ann has been able to speak to her about her fears, and help her focus her attention elsewhere. I really think it has helped my daughter calm down. They also talk about things going on at school, such as conflicts wtih friends. I really wish when I was younger my parents sent me to a therapist, so if you're considering it for your child I would contact Ann.

  • PSP review of Ann Smith

Ann Smith is wonderful. She worked with my then-8-year-old daughter for about a year to manage anxiety and did wonders, giving her realistic tools and a real sense of confidence around them. She was also indispensable in helping us support our daughter as well as her younger brother. I’d recommend her unconditionally.
  • Review from Q1 Therapist Reviews Survey

I went to Ann to seek out skills to handle my very strong willed daughter, age 3 at the time. I hoped to gain insight as to how to handle her more effectively and understand why she would react in her particular ways. Ann is easy to talk to and a good communicator. I still see her on my own to discuss my daughter and have taken in my daughter as well. It has been about 6 months total and I have gone for about 8 visits. There is no set schedule that you have to commit to which I like. I do recommend her because she has provided me with some good tools to help get through this difficult age. She helps me to trouble shoot through particular areas of stress. Insurance Issues She takes insurance, but not all. She may provide a lower rate if needed.
